My career in the oil business has allowed me to travel the world including the last two years living in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I also have been lucky enough to arrange true international handgun safaris over the next couple of years in Australia and Africa that I am really looking forward to, but with all that my favorite place to go handgun hunting, bar none, is in Albany Texas at the Vinson Ranches. All my pictures to date I have posted in the bragging board are of hogs I have taken at the place. I have also taken deer including a trophy buck (used a rifle for that one) and countless doves. There is nothing better than chasing hogs through the mesquite flats of Albany with a big bore revolver to relax over a weekend and get ready for another work week. I hope Lanny gives me a discount for this, but the website is: http://www.vinsonranches.com/Where is you favorite place?

Right here in my backyard...well, my little corner of Indiana County!! Got deer and turkey to hunt, not far to go and always know when lunch is served.

Southern Michigan, close to home. A lot of crops for food and good cover. You just never know when that big buck will come out. Area also holds a lot of turkeys, coyotes and small game.

My backyard also. I watch all the edible critters all year long. Don't even have to leave the yard.
One year I had a spooked doe run from 800 yards to stop dead in her tracks in my yard, not her choice. I was standing on the porch when I dropped her at a whopping 10 yards. I have shot several in this same manner. I just can't figure out why they keep coming near my house.
A couple of years ago got up in the morning. Camo, thermos of coffee, snacks for a whole day hunt. Walked outside, got about 10 steps behind the house and looked up. There he was, bullwinkle just chilling out about 75 yards in the beans. I had to lay down and just drop him. Kinda sucked for all that getting ready when I could have just went out in my PJs'.
These were all with my rifle and before I got my 44. So far it still is looking good at my house!

While I enjoy hunting in remote parts of the world, my favorite place is our farm. Deer, turkey, and squirrels.

For hogs, my favorite state is Florida -- despite the nasty weather in the summer! In fact, last weekend I was in the panhandle hunting hogs.........

Africa has a tremendous amount of different game, however Texas is a close second.....

For me, nothing beats the tall sage and buckbrush of the Ruby Mountains in northern Nevada. Open enuff to spot the game, and thick enuff to put the sneak on 'em. Fits my hunting style to a "T". Oh, the town of Elko is a 55 min. drive to the best Basque food in the country.
Don't confuse shooting with hunting. Shooting is a game, hunting is a sport.

I love hunting at home, but there's somthing about hunting in Texas. It's a handgunners heaven. Multiple native species and endless exotics, something to hunt year around. And it has what ever type terrain you choose to hunt. I pick Texas....
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Like Pasco, I like to be able to look around and see whats going on. I prefer WY since I know it some, but any of the other low density (population) western states would also work

Well the swamps of eastern NC.Nothing like watching a white-tail walk through the swamp on a cold morning or afternoon and seeing where they prefer to cross the water at and which little island they meander on the longest and which one they snooze on and then knocking a steam hole in them. Then knowing how much mud, muck and water you are going to have to drag them through......I love it!

Black Kettle National Grassland in western Oklahoma . Looks like something right out of a Western. And if you're patient enough and call long enough, you just might see one of our reclusive mt. lions.
I sure to miss the Ozark mountains where I grew up, though.

Love to hunt in the Carolinas, from swamps and skeets (you're a sadist Cotton) to pine thickets to hardwood ridges; love the midwest with its' big whitetails and agriculture; love the elk and mulies of the Rockies and the pristine views; love the rolling plains and cottonwood drains of Nebraska...but Texas has them all beat for variety and amount of game...amazing what can thrive in mesquite and cactus
oh well - I'm happy handgun hunting anywhere!

Grew up hunting in New Mexico, have hunted Colorado & Wyoming. Spent a few days hunting in Oklahoma & Kansas. I love the mountains & the open plains. But my favorite place to hunt is in Texas. It is as close to Africa as I will ever get.
It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

I have a 150 acre "hobby" cattle ranch in East Texas that has been in my family for nearly 100 years. It is bordered on the south by a large spring-fed creek and on the north and east by 5000 acres of pine and hardwood forest. My land is about 60% open pasture and 40% forested. Needless to say it provides a ready supply of deer meat, dove, quail, squirrel, etc. In addition there is the constant need to do some varmint hunting - coyote, armadillo and the like. The biggest pain that I have, and the most constant challenge is wild pigs. As with every Texas land owner, I suffer significant destruction of grass and pasture land every year. I spend countless hours on my tractor trying to smooth out the ground that has been rooted up by these spawn of hell! I also spend a lot of time hunting the devils, early in the morning, mid-day or in the middle of the night. There is no telling when you will see them, but they are ALWAYS there. So, all my hunting time and efforts go toward those 150 acres in NW Nacogdoches County and mainly trying to reduce the population of wild hogs. Why not come help out!! Cal B. Tyler, Texas

Anywhere it is legal. I'm from Canada and as most of you know it is illegal to hunt with a handgun here. I am fortunate though in the sense that I live within a couple of hours from the US border and it is legal there. I've hunted state land and places that have tresspass fees and love going there. Africa is another wonderfull place but MUCH more expensive. Mike
Enjoy your family and friends today as they may not be here tomorow.

My favorite would have to be Alaska. I've hunted all over the U.S. and Canada, but that place is full of adventure for me. Second would have to be my home here in Kentucky, for Whitetail, turkey, coyote and all smaller game. I've yet to draw a KY. elk tag....dang it!

There was a man in his 90s in Orange County NY on the NY/NJ borderline with 100+ acres of farmland that allowed me and my guests exclusively to hunt his property. All he asked is that we left the property in the same condition or better than when we got there. He loved venison, so every year we would share our harvest with him. It was the property that I learned to hunt on. After 3 years he allowed us to put up some treestands and that is when we really started to see alot of deer. Sadly, the next year, he passed away and his daughter sold the property.

I've been very blessed to have been able to hunt pretty broadly across the 6 huntable continents. As I reflect back on it, I think I have to say that every last bit of it has been absolutely outstanding. Favorite? I think I'll have to cop out and paraphrase my friend David S. from Las Vegas , who when asked a similar question a few years ago about what his favorite hunt was responded: "The next one !" So mine is the next one in the next place!

I hunted Ola, Id. area for better than 15 years and now I hunt the Seven Devils/ Hell's Canyon area. No fourwheelers up there it's either horseback or on foot and I don't have horses. Giant bucks and bulls there.
