For heavy loads of H110,you guys that use it,in a 44 mag,what primers are you guys using.I have been using CCI 350 magnum primers.I was told today that that was dangerous.I have read somewhere that for H110,WW296,and 4227 that they were necessary for consistent ignition.Do I need to change?How about when I use ww231 powder?Loads being shot in super blackhawkbisley.

I run close to max load of H110 in my SBH and have always used regular Winchester Large Pistol primers. My manual calls for regular primers.

I use the 350's on most all of my 45 and 44 loads. I find I get better starts with the 350's most of my data I have say use them when using 296, H110 and 2400. Be careful when using them with fast powders you may want to stay in the mid to lower ranges of the data or go back to a standard primer.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

I'm not sure who told you that but it's almost backwards to what I have found to be true. I use mag primers with all my H110 loads. Here is a direct quote from the Sierra 5th edition loading manual;

Like most other cartridges using large charges of slow burning powders, the .44 generally gives best accuracy and ignition when used with magnum primers and a firm crimp.

Cotton,

Since late 1980's I've favored H110 for heavy hitters in my .44's. 2400 for lighter bullets. I've never used anything BUT magnum primers for all of them.

It really depends on what your particular firearm likes. You cannot work up a load with a standard primer then switch to a magnum without reducing your powder charge and working back up.
