Hey Guys, my wonderful wife has offered to buy me a Contender (that I have always wanted)for my birthday. I'm looking for one in 7X30 Waters. Anybody have a line on one or where I might locate one? Also, if I can't locate a Contender, what is different about the G2?

looks like a "mini encore"....is easier opening....easier to recock after letting the hammer down....built a tad stronger in the area prone to stretch....trigger is not externally adjustable, but can be taken care of with a trigger job. they are excellent imo!

7-30....and even 30-30AI would be great choices(i personally prefer the AI). the 35rem bumps the hand harder with heavy loads, but will thump a deer to 200 with some effort.

Kentucky….no place like home.

I've got a 7-30 Waters, blue, hunter, 12", factory muzzle brake, excellent condition. If interested send me a PM.

I have both 7-30 Waters & 30-30 AI. Obviously, the ackley requires that you reload. Both are excellent choices for deer, IMHO. Might look on Gunbroker. I have purchased 3 7-30s from their auction since the first of the year.

Good luck.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

Several months ago, when I wasn't ready to buy, I saw several on Gunbroker. Now, not much to be had. I may just order a G2 frame and the barrel from one of the specialty places.

go to ed's contenders. I got a new 7x30 waters 14" stainless cheaper than people selling used ones.
