How do you guys store your barrels. I started out with a large tupperware type container, filled with foam with cutouts for barrels. Worked ok but would only hold 4. Am now up to 7 and find that barrel and scope is an awkward thing to store without getting knocked around. I'm looking for an inexpensive method of securing them. Now playing around with idea of building a cabinet out of scrap 3/4" plywood I have laying around. Would love to get some other ideas. Thanks
I use something very similar to your Tupperware and store my barrels in a just stick in the safe. It stores all my extra barrels without a problem. I usually use one a take down shotgun case. It has an extra layer of foam for storing barrels.
plywood with foam sounds like a good idea. make it lockable add handles and make it a dimension that fits in your safe.I have a large pistol case that holds my contender and all three barrels one more will not fit.
Genesis chapter 1 verse 26
When shooting a single shot their are no warning shots.
I have too many bbls & frames & have not gone to the trouble that you are considering. I wrap each one in a small towel & stack them on the top shelf of my safe. I admit that sometimes I have to "dig" through them to find the one that I want, but this method works for me.
It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.
This is my solution. I attached heavy duty magnets so it "sticks" to the back of my locker. The barrel lugs rest on the bottom of the pockets and the dog bones fit into the notch to keep them from falling out. Takes very little space.
I know the OTT cradle units are a little out of your price range right now, but when you do have a chance to get some they are very handy. I put them on the top shelf of my safe and staggered them in two rows so you can put the barrels head to toe so to speak.
I also have some on the gun closet wall for easy storage when working at the bench.
