Who among you have experience with the Encore Pistol in 270 Win? What kind of accuracy do you get from this cartridge in the pistol length? On game performance?

I had a TC Custom shop barrel in .270 Win that was 16 1/8" in length. Accuracy was 1-2" at 100 yds. depending on which ammunition was being used. Never used it on game, but would expect it to be as effective as out of a rifle, though you may want to drop a little on the bullet weight to make sure it expands reliably at the lower handgun velocity.

i hunted with a .270 rifle for years. it's a great cartridge. i'd kinnda like to have one in a longer pistol length, but the 7mm-08 is sure hard to beat in a handgun!.... and i think there are more bullet choices in 7mm for handguns(expansion etc).

Kyode,
I switched from the .270 to a 7mm-08 for those exact reasons. It was a 12" barrel (lighter), used less powder, shot as well or better, and had better bullet selection. It also had substantially less recoil than the .270 or 30-06 I have and has become my go to caliber for medium game in the encore.

I still have the .270 rifle that was the first long gun I bought with my own money (33 years ago) and it gitserdun on whities. If a person goes with at least 15" in a pistol the loss of velocity would only be a couple hundred FPS so you'd be running a 130 at 2700 plus, rather than 2950 conservatively. Still plenty fast to make a BT or SST open up down range. The '06 cases aren't the most efficient tho and I agree with the others that a 7-08 would be a better choice, or 260 Rem if you want a smaller slug. The .308 cases are just the right size for shortguns.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I have had two 270 Win’s in short guns and one 7mm08. The first 270 shot light out, ¾ 5 shot groups at 100 with IMR 4831 and a 130 SP, and I am still working on the second. I have ran 9 experimental rounds down it and I have 10 more loaded up and just weighting for range time. My Custom Shop 270 will shoot ¾ 3 shot groups with IMR 4064 and a 130 SP if I take my time and don’t get the barrel too hot. I got rid of the first barrel because I couldn’t constantly obtain the accuracy I wanted with the recoil of the 270. I latter bought a TC “Custom Shop” that had a break. The recoil with a break is equivalent to a 243 or less. I can tell you this, my 270 has shot 5-6 hogs, 1 deer, and a bobcat and everything was DRT. I kind of view the 270 Win shortgun equivalent to a 7mm08 rifle.
I have 5 bullets and 6 powders that I can load in my 270, I just haven’t used all the combinations yet.

Just my way of thinking; I don't have any of the 06 based cases, and I haven't really considered them because I think they are a little to much for the short tubes. In NY you can't have a pistol barrel over 16" so at 15" the 308 based cases run just a little under the 06 cases and do it with less powder.
If you have an 18" barrel on a handgun the 06 cases will out do the 308 based cases especially with the heavy bullets.
