The gas companies that gouged us for 4.50 a gallon or the dealers gouging us for $50+ per 500 rounds of .22 L.R.

Not here. If any of the stores in this town tried that they'd lose a lot more in the end than they'd gain short term. If your guy did such I'd make it quite plain that they'd never see me, or my money, again.

They're not that high here yet, but prices are up. I'm amazed that they can't keep them in stock at those prices either! I have not been shooting as much as I usually do the last few months. I don't want to burn up the ammo I have on hand and not be able to replace it.

22 bulk here is running $30/500.
One dealer had 9mm Fed Am Eagle FMJ for $22.50 per box!
Crazy stuff.
$50/brick of 22 is nuts.

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

The local mom & pop gun shops around here are $30.00 a brick ..IF.. they have any 22's. The Buffalo Gun Center has CCI Blazer for $20.00 a brick. Ackleys had Federal Champion at $18.00 a brick, and Grices was running a special on a weekend sale at $15.00 a brick a few weeks ago.

Don't even get me started on the price of gas. The weekly trips to Buffalo are really starting to crimp my wallet!!
Gas is $2.50 a gallon here and still rising.

I went into walleyworld today and thought I'd buy some 22lr while I was in there. All they had was a brick of CCI Stingers. I normally shoot the 550 bulk box of Remingtons, but thought I'd give the CCI's a try in my BearCat. The cashier rung it up (1 brick) and it was $52 somthing. I told him that was retarded and I left. I normally shoot 22's during any of my free time through out the year, but this year I'm gonna have to save what I have so I can hunt next season.

Oh yeah - I forgot to mention at the gun show some ass was selling 1000 Federal Small Rifle primers for $95 - I hope he chokes on them.

Clay and I have been discussing this at length and I think the greed of the retailers is going to bite the gun industry hard. There are too many casual shooters who will be unwilling to pay these exorbitant prices even if they could find the ammo and they will simply abandon shooting entirely. They will pick up golf clubs, fishing rods or whatever and we'll never get the majority of them back. At that point they won't give a crap about gun control laws.

yep, this is getting stupid. So far I'm still paying fair prices for rimfire ammo, in fact I just picked up some CCI Mini Mags for my Henry and they are still 8.99 per 100 but there are alot of people taking advantage of the situation. I don't blame people for being concerned and stocking up on stuff but these guys that are trying to make an excessive profit off the fear caused by a truly scary political situation should be strung up by the nuts. I'm so tired of this crap I'm about ready to scrap the gun building and go back to building hot rods but the way things are going with the "green" movement they'll probably outlaw those next.

Ain't that the truth!! My 351W Ranger gobbles fuel at about 8mpg...and for some reason billows white smoke from the rear when I mash the skinny pedal. Rod...you are an auto tech...any tips on why it's creating large plumes of smoke from the rear end area??

And my tires last NO WHERE near the rated mileage!

sorry dan it's not mechanical it's medical and I suffer from the same condition except I keep melting the 37's off my big dodge. I think it's some genetic thing that causes our right legs to be heavier when behind the wheel of something with some horsepower.

Try Cabela's. I work there and we aren't raising our prices. We sell bricks of federal 525 bulk or remington 550 packs for $20-25 bucks or so if we have em in stock. Powder is 20-25 a pound and primers 30-40 per thousand. the local small shops are twice our prices. 6 bucks per hundred on primers and a 200 primer limit at one place. Good luck!!!

I've tried Cabela's in Buda and they only had 100 round boxes and you were limited to 2 boxes regardless of what you bought.

Some folks feel the compulsion to take advantage of the situation. Very sad indeed.

I don't think that it will be too long until the market is saturated. When that happens the prices will come down. I saw one 8 pound keg of Varget on gunbroker that went for $680. That’s just nuts. The last .22 ammo I bought was $19 a brick. I bought some powder the other day $19 a pound. There was a 2 pound limit though. I was recently in Seattle. One store there had plane jane AR-15s for $1600. The store down the road had the same guns for about $800.

Yep, and it's a lot easier than you may think.

Some of these stores are too dumb to realize that taking advantage of the short term is going to hurt in the long term. I already told one of the two gun, bait, tackle, gas, etc shops here that they will never see me again. And then told the other guy the story and he has kept it real, and I'm a customer for life now.
