This will be my first season chasing deer with an Encore pistol. This is chambered in 7mm-08 and is currently wearing a 2x Weaver.
One shot, one kill.

Excellent. Only thing I would do is swap out that scope for something more worthy of the 7mm-08...a variable of at least 2-6X would be a great start.

I actually want the Bushnell Trophy 2-6x before hunting season, but the 2x Weaver is the only handgun scope I already owned.
One shot, one kill.

That'll giterdun!
There are a couple of 2.5-8x Weavers in the classifieds, great scope for the $.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

you will be happy with that. You will want a little more magnification though. I have hunted the past 2 seasons with a 7TCU. the first year with a 2X Leupold then I switched to a 2-6X Buschnel trophy hunter. I love it. Shot a doe last year at 185 yards. That's a lot harder to do with the 2X!
Good luck and have fun!

Thats a good setup my friend and it will bring you many tasty non steroid steaks to enjoy. Have fun and look for another scope for the future but the one you got now will do good for the season.

Nice setup. If you plan on shooting within 75 yds or less, that scope is plenty. If it will be beyond that distance, go with a variable scope. This is one of my favorite handguns for deer: This is my .375 JDJ with a Burris 2-7x.
