Anyone have any experience with Lil' Gun??? I have some new 320 grain hard cast for my 44 mag SRH, and its one of the faster powders and the only one I have in stock at the store. Its that or wait for H110. Anyone have any experience/suggestions?

This is only what I have heard second hand, but… LittleGun is hard on forcing cones in revolvers. I know of more that a few people on this sight that will not use if for that reason.

I use LG in my heavy bullets .45LC loads. It launches 340gr Penns at 1340fps. For all the more I shoot those loads in that gun, I doubt I'll ever see any damage it the tales are true.

I've been using it in my .44SRH and .500 Encore with no issues so far (under a 1000 rounds in each and loaded at or slightly above minimum.) My only complaint with it so far is that it sticks to my electronic powder trickler like no other powder has... Accuracy has been as good or better than H110/W296.

Heard of the forcing cone issues but the only thing I can tell you is IMO this powder creates more blast and recoil than 296/H110 to do the same job, again JMO!

I use Lil Gun and I have never heard of it being hard on forcing cones. I think it would be more of an alignment issue with barrel to cylinder of an individual gun. I'll keep on using it and W296 in my .357, .41, and .44 magnums. I like how Lil Gun meters compared to 296 out of my Lee powder measure also....

Max....take a look at the pressure levels using LG in the smaller bore rounds. Load to load, LG produces less pressure and more velocity than H110 and W296. I'm shooting a stiff 180gr load in my .357 Mag Blackhawk using LG...it makes more velocity than I was able to getusing either of the other powders.

Give it a try...I think you will like it.

Sorry for the bad rap on LG… I just remembered a few people said they had problems with it. I can say it did outstanding in my 22 Hornet.

I've been using it some in .454 and 500 S&W. I've never heard of the forcing cone issue either. I like it.

I am one of those WITH the forcing cone issues. I can only say how it affects FA guns in 454 Casull caliber, as that is all I have used it in. I know first hand of 4 different barrels that have had very pre-mature forcing cone erosion....two in as few as 50 rounds.

I know others use it and like it, but in the combination I mentioned above I would advise against it. Call FA and ask them their opinion on it.

I have heard that Lil Gun is rough on forcing cones but have not experienced it first-hand. I shoot a 45 Colt Blackhawk and I mostly use HS-6 and 2400.

I load it in my 357 mags under a 158 grain pill and it works great for me. I shoot it in my Ruger and my Contender. It's accurate and lower on pressure than most other powders. Only forcing cone issues I've ever heard of were with light bullets in a 357 maximum and that wasn't with Lil Gun.

I use it in my 460 S&W Encore. I'm shooting 300 gr. XTP's Mags. with 44 grs. of Lil Gun. I have used it on hogs and deer. A doe I shot two years ago had a 45 cal. hole in and out of the hide, but when I skinned her out she had an exit hole big enough to put both fist in. Maybe too much gun for deer.
