Traded my brother an old four wheeler for this Super RedHawk 44 mag. What optics do you guys use/like for deer hunting on your SRH

I'd go with a Leupold FX 2 or 4, they are lighter weight and more compact than Burris and seem to hold up better. The 2x I love in brush or short running shots because of the larger field of view but the 4x will make longer shots past a 100yds a little easier although with the 44 in a hunting situation I know most guys hold to right around 100yds as max but you can stretch them out to 150 if you practice alot and do your part. Variables are nice but not a necessity with this caliber but I'm partial to the leupold VXIII 2.5-8x but after that I would go with a Bushnell 3200 elite 2-6x. There are those on here that love Burris and in all honesty when I had mine a few years ago they worked fine but they were awkwardly long and heavy compared to the others and recently it seems the new ones being sold now don't have the quality control of the earlier ones causing failure rates to jump. Another scope I've never had a problem with that would work and would be a good choice would be the Weaver or Nikons, they are a little more affordable and solid and you can choose between fixed and variable with them.

pretty much what rod said.....
;\)
except i've had my 2x burris on my redhawk for umpteen years....n it ain't long or heavy to me.
it's in my avatar and on the bragging board. the trophy model(step below the elite) bushnells have been fine on lot's of contenders.

IF i were buying a revolver scope today, i'd consider a weaver 2x and/or 4x model for monetary consideration, but still with a record of reliability.

I gave my younger brother my SRH just like that one.... I miss it already. LOL They are good guns and mine was very accurate.

I like the fixed 4X scopes on my SRH's. Here is my 480.

As far as I`am concerned you made a good trade. The SRH is a excellent hunting handgun.

Defiantly!

Wow Rod, you can shoot that 2X a heck of a lot better than I can! I guess I am more dependent on my 2-6! LOL

I have the SRH with the 9 1/2" barrel. I have had real good accuracy using a millett red dot. It has held up real well after 6 years...

I'd go with tne 2x Leupold.

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.
