After reading Clayzzz and tiggers post I just had to go out. I saw quite a few chucks this morning but I was being picky on my shots. I shot at 4 and got 3. Closest shot was 113 and the farthest was 159

This is part of the area I shot

This is my Encore in 22 Hornet and a couple of chucks

That's a beautiful setting.... Bet that was fun!

It was a ton of fun!! I don't want to shoot this area out, so I didn't take every shot I could have. These chucks are about 10 min from my place and its fun to run up the river and pop a few when ever the urge strikes

I'm using a 40 gr V-max over a charge of Lil-gun. I just got this barrel and this load is what I shoot in my 12 inch contender. Seems to work well in this barrel too.

Way to go Wyote no your on the board, your rock chucks look like our eastern groundhogs they must be kin. I can't think of a better way to spend a day or afternoon. It's fun and keeps you in practice for deer season. What kind of sling do you have on your gun in the pics I like the way it carrys, is it comfortable to carry that way.

Rock chucks (marmots) are just about like a ground hog, except they have more orange in their coloration.

I carry most of my guns on a sling or in my Eberliestock pack. I usually carry behind me but for picture taking I moved it around to the front.

This partiular sling (I don't know the name of it) is a regular rifle sling but it came with a release buckle (snap) on the long side of the rubber padding. I put and extention strap and another buckle on the short side so the pad will ride on the middle of my shoulder.

The buckles are GREAT for hunting. With the sling over my head I can just unsnap the buckle and take the rig off. Otherwise I would have to take it off over my head. This is faster and alot less movement. Hope you can see the buckles in this pic
