the doc fused my wrist last wednsday and said when he got in there it was worse than first thought but the operation went well. I'll be in a soft cast until tuesday the 23rd and then a hard cast for another 4 to six weeks. I have no idea at this point how long until I can shoot my handguns again but I'm expecting to have to use a rifle for elk season at the least. The real bummer is I just finished modifying the 454 Vaquero again, this time with a Shilen 7" barrel and a brass bead front sight. I'm also in the middle of another 500 and a full custom 44 that I'm building just to see how accurate I can make it. I'll have to wait a while now to test them.
I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist

Well, I asking how you were doing on the other post before I read this one. Ups, thanks for the report and I will keep you in my prayers!

Glad to hear all went well with the opperation....sorry to hear no handguns for a while. Sounds like a prime time to get your big bore's BRAKED. I'd hate to know you had to give up handguns all together, right at the begining of you custom gunsmithing career. Unless you want to hire me to test fire 'em....LOL...good to see you posting again, Rod.

Rod you might need to start doing small bore conversions for the time being. The Kay-Chuck is a neat one.

I had a buddy that broke both arms and boy did he love to fish! So 2 weeks after he got casts on both arms he duck taped the rod and reel to one cast and taped a section of pvc pipe to the other to turn the handle. Fishing was easy! Running a tiller handle 25 Merc was a bit more difficult. Good luck Rod
If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

thanks guys and tig that might not be a bad idea for my next project, I wonder if it will fit in a single six frame and if the frame could take it? h20 I was thinking about fishing today since the spring salmon are still running but I use casting and fly rods and I'm right handed so even if I could cast a bait or plug I don't think I could reel in a 20-50lb fish.

Hey wapitirod, Don't listen to Dan, not at all! I'm the guy to play, uh, ummmm, care for your guns...yeah thats it. I'm here in OR so I could drop by (in about 2 minutes!) to help you lift them onto my motorcycle. I have a 2500 Dodge Diesel that can haul all of them if you'd like me to, uh, ummm, watch em' for ya. Of course I'm doing this only out the goodness of my heart and for no personal gain (yeah right!).
Speedy recovery to ya. I just ripped a muscle out of my shoulder, surgery is schduled and will have to shoot IHMSA left handed for a while.

Dang Rod. That sucks, will you have normal flexation when all healed up? The word "fuse" doesn't sound like much fun when in your joints. I know they do it a lot on backs tho so should have their scat together. This sounds like a good excuse to invest in a Ransom rest, although not nearly as much fun ;-)
Take care and get well sir.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Rod, I am praying you heal quickly but do not try to do to much at first. I know you are itching to shoot, but God will let you know when. I just started hunting with a handgun last year and I am addicted. I love to experiment with loads for my setup and try for the optimum without busting the pressure. I love to shoot, regardless of what it is. I will be praying for you. With His Blessings!
