Im getting ready to work up some loads for my 475 linebaugh i will use it for deer hunting, what bullets do you all recommend for whitetail hunting. I know nothing about the 475 only what most people say is it is a handful when it barks. Powder suggestions to please thanks Ron

You don't need a lot of power for a deer. Maybe a 325 grain bullet at about 900 fps..

What type of pistol, Freedom Arms or a custom built gun?

Get a good 400 grain cast bullet and load up 14.0 grains of HS-6. This is an easy shooting load and wil go through any deer you can take a shot at.

I use the same load as MS Hitman in my FA. I get 1200 fsp with a 400 grain bullet and 14 grains of HS6. It is also very accurate in my gun.

As stated above, it don't take much for deer. For my 475, I'm pushing a 375 gr gas checked cast with 28.0 gr of H110. This load is accurate in my Reeder, but is a bit of a handfull if you don't have a brake. The load is also, way more than needed for whitetail, but if there happens to be one T-Rex left on this planet and I stumble across him, I'll be prepared...LOL...my theory is, you don't buy a racecar to cruise around town...so.....JMO

it is a BFR with a 7.5in pipe, i will probaly start with the lighter loads until i get used to it then race around town instead of cruising. I have a Freedom but it is in the 50 ae i might do the 325 gr pill thanks Ron

Kunas, the 325 xtp is a great choice for deer...I was just fun'n earlier...I've used that bullet pushed at around 1300 fps and it will penetrate length ways through a whitetail and keeps good weight retention. I shot one faceing me and recovered the bullet under the hide on the hind quarter.

I agree with Kral the 325gr XTP is a great bullet in the 475 and I've pushed them up to almost 1600fps in my guns, I've also had good luck with the 400gr XTP. If you would rather go cast I've used the 355gr Oregon Trail, 375gr CP and 425gr CP and all have shot well in my guns but the jacketed bullets have always given me better accuracy.

Another vote for the 325 XTP as the best option. I've used the 400 XTP a great deal on elk, buffalo, large bear and hogs, but it's a pretty tough bullet for deer, and much more than necessary. The same is certainly true, too, of the hardcast 420 WFN's I've used. If one did want to use a jacketed 400 gr. bullet, the Speer does not seem to be as tough as the Hornady XTP, but I've only shot hogs with it, and haven't tried it on deer.

With smaller calibers like the .44 mag, I like an expanding bullet for deer. With the .475, I use a 420 grain WFN for everything. It makes a big hole and deer don't go far ever in my experience. I don't like diddling with re-sighting my weapon because of a load change. I find what works on everything, and stick with it -- takes all of the guesswork out of it. JMHO.
