They do allow guns there and highly encourage and promote the personal ownership and use of sound suppression for each handgun. I know because I very goo friend who lives in France and owns many suppressed handguns-the caveat being that he must be able to furnish the gun, sliencer and all licenses on demand when the do their psot checks. They do them frequently.
Just an FYI!

was it Patton that said I'd rather have the German army in front of me than the French army behind me? If my worse nightmare come true and I end up in France I'll let you know

Handguns are indeed permitted in France, as are rifles and shotguns. I have personally hunted in France, although I used a rifle. In fact, the French Constitution guarantees its citizens the right to hunt.

Rod, too.

From what I've found in my travels is that shooters and hunters talk just about the same language worldwide. Flyfishermen too. There is a lot about the French, Spain; and our US govenment right now that I don't really agree with. Throwing a wide net over our brother hunters and shooters is way off base.

I know that this is going waaaay back in history but, during our little fight to secure a country from England it was the French who gave us a hand.
