Tell everything you can about the 500 S&W. I am curious about your guns.

Thanks

I am still trying to decide if I want a .500, my .480 seems to be adequate. If I were to get a sidearm that big it would probably be a .50 ae Desert Eagle. I just like the way they look and my .357 mark1 is so accurate. Although to have a revolver that big sitting on my coffe table, what a conversation starter. Better than a picture book of San Fransisco.

Well, it's heavy and shoots very well, particularly the 440 gr. Corbon's. In fact all of the Corbon line of 500's will shoot 2" groups or better at 50 yards.

I've had an 8 3/8" for about a year now. It's a little muzzle heavy, but balances nicely for something that large and heavy. Good trigger. Reliable. Shoots pretty well, mine especially with the Hornady 350 grain XTP's (published velocity 1900 fps).

A buddy of mine just got one of the 4" models. I really like the way it feels and balances in hand. Not that bad to shoot either.

For me, the 500 is a little more comfortable to shoot than my .454 Raging Bull. The .454 is a high pressure load, and makes my shooting hand sting when I shoot it. The 500 doen't make my hand sting, but it does come back at you harder than the .454.

For me, the most painful thing about shooting the 500 is the price of the ammo. You really have to reload to be able to shoot it.

I have one of the 6.5" PC500 Hunters. It is a little lighter than the 8" and much lighter than the 10.5" PC500 Hunter. I think it balances well. I just added a scope. Haven't had the opportunity to sight it in yet. Adds a considerable amount of weight.
So far, I have been working my way up to full power loads. I am only part way there. I am shooting the 325 gr. Speer with 35 gr. of 4227 which I believe is about 1500. I am very pleasantly surprised by the relatively mild recoil. It is very accurate, but the front sight is too low. I have requested a higher one from the Performance Center. Should be here in a couple of days.
