While checking out the accessory rail on my PT 1911 AR I got an idea for a cheap way to mount one of my Streamlight Scorpions. I took an old 1 inch Weaver style scope ring and put a rubber shim in it and mounted my light in it with about 1 1/2 inches sticking out the back. When I just finger tighten the mount in the front groove of the rail it gives me about 1 1/2 inches to slip my finger behind it and turn it on. Light could always be shining where the 45 is pointing. Won't go in any holster I know of but stays in a pistol rug until a time I need it.

There are pros and cons to that. Nonetheless, it is always great to see someone achieve their objective with a little ingenuity, good job.

Yeah, I watched a show about the pros and cons of it. Pros had the gun aimed where the light was shining. Cons had the badguys guns aimed where the light was shining from. I guess low funds, a little imagination and keeping rings and stuff thru the years equals ingenuity. Thanks.

That is one issue. The other is that you may not always want to light up (shoot at) what you are lighting up (illuminating) and that's how "accidents" can happen.

Practice and discipline, dat's da the name o' da game ;-)

It's for bumps in the night and it's easy to remove, just a few turns and it'll fall off in my hand.
