Sorry to hear that, clayzzz.

WOW, That's a drag!!!
If you can, hang on a few weeks before you let stuff go. You never know what might come along.
A few all day charlie hunts to relax and clear you mind might help also. Great therapy.

Sorry to hear the news. When I got laid off for a couple months last winter I got into trapping thanks to family donations of traps, lures and things. It helped take the mind off of things and got me out of the house. Try not to spend too much time looking. It'll drive you nuts.
Don't get in a big hurry to sell like Tigger said. You never know what will come.
Take Care,
Rich

Sorry to hear! I haven't ever had a job like that. Always have worked for myself. And of course being in construction, it just sucks right now. Keep you head high!
A few months ago I put in an ad in 2 local papers looking for work. Not one call, 7 different people called me to see if I was hiring!

THANK YOU'LL for the kind words, but if I have to sell the first to go will be my SBHH 44 with 1.5x4 Burris scope, with a Quite Hide holster. I'll keep my TC Encore with 223rem.and7mm/08rem barrels. If I sell 44 Jemery I'll get a hold of you I have 6 boxes of Hornady 240gr ammo,I wouldn't want to ship ammo or hope somebody local in Virginia wants it they'll get it all.

clayzzz, And just this a.m. on FOX the talk is that the President claims that he saved our country from a depression and how much better things are now...
I too am self-employed and things are real tough out there. I have reached some lows lately that I have never experienced either.
Prayer has gotten me through and now things are a little brighter. If ok with you clayzz I will add you to my prayer list. Hang in there buddy and things WILL get better.
Take Care.

Yeah I can relate. Wife lost her job 7 months ago. She's talented, has BA and has never been unemployed before. With her job went 50% of our income. Savings only last so long you know. I sold A LOT of my extra gun related stuff, guns and .....
Good luck, there are a bunch of us in the same boat.

Man I'm sorry to hear that - and just when you were having so much fun shooting hogs with your new handguns. I've been there too as you well know. My gun safe is a lot lighter than it was 2 years ago.

Clayzzz, Sorry to hear about your layoff , I haven't got laid off this year, but I have only had 3 weeks of work since Christmas where I got 40 hours, many weeks in the 20's, and more then I like to think about without... Tuff on a single income family of five. Things will get better, I do believe that. Makes you think of what is most important to you. I guess, I did turn down a job where I could have worked closer to 70 hours a week. But,I had just started taking EMT-Basic classes in March. And had to decide, in the long run I hope it works out.

Clayzz:
I have been laid off from a nice teaching position a while back. In fact I was out of work from September to April. That can wear down your morale. My cogent advice would be to sign up for any sort of unemployment and then start actively looking for work. There may be a bright spot in this if I may be so bold. I know in Massachusetts the department of labor has a training program for people out of work. I missed the deadline for free training. In a nutshell I would have recieved training and collect benefits for up to two years while training.
I don't know if Virginia has anything like it but if it does I'd pounce on it. This may be an opportunity to enter a new career. Also, don't feel bad about collecting and getting any free training. I felt low and despondent when I was out of work. A friend consoled me and said that for many years you contributed to the system. Look at how many people have taken and never contributed. It is your turn to get the help that you have provided to others.
Again. Don't let anything slip past you.
