I've been snoop'in around on here for a while but I've never posted. Had time to today so I thought I would give'r a whirl.

I guess I'll start by telling you alittle about myself. I started out kind of backwords from most folks, big game hunting that is, instead of rifle hunting I started with handguns back in 1983. I began handloading the same year. My first centerfire handgun, and one I've taken over 30 head of game with, is a Ruger SBH .44mag. w/ a Leupold 2x scope. I own or have owned quite a few T/C Contenders and Encores in all sorts of calibers-.44,.357 Max.,7-30 waters,.30-06,.243,and.270,.358,.375,.338-06JDJ's. I love'em all. I have taken a few head of game over the years with rifles. Moose in Canada(had too), Caribou in Alaska (left the .454 Casuall in camp ) and a couple of whitetails here in KY., but mostly I'm pretty much the dedicated handgun nut! After 21 years of hunt'in with them it's still the challenge of taking game with a handgun that drives my passion for hunting and reloading. BTW, all the game I've taken with centerfires has been with my handloads. I take great pride in that and I think you all know what I mean!

Anyway, I hope I can contribute to this board in some way and learn alittle bit in the process.

WELCOME to the board rugernut! Glad to see you posting. I'm sure with all that experience you can help me out some. I've only been handloading for a couple of years. I know what you mean, it does make you feel good to harvest game with your own relaods.

yes indeed welcome aboard, funny thing when you think about all of the many facets of "hunting" and the parts that we find to be so rewarding and frustrating then you see some dope try to sell us out that he 's a real hunter because he bought a new coat.... er is this 'sposed to be politic free zone... anyway, welcome aboard, post often.

Oh yea, I've also been a member of Handgun Hunters International since 1986 and if some of you aren't members you are really missing out. Although I've never wrote a story and sent it end (yes I'm ashamed ) the Sixgunner is a great way to gather information on handgunning and loads for differant calibers. There are also member hunts you can participate in at very good prices. The Sixgunner is a bi monthly paper that is a great read. I've been telling myself I'm going to start writing some stories and sending them in, so by telling you all about it I'll hold myself to it.

I hope I'm not repeating what someone else has already commented about. I'm just a newbie here!

BTW, I'm thinking of going on the antelope hunt with HHI next year. Mybe I'll see some of you there! Anybody going?

Welcome rugernut,

This is a fun place to be and informative. I have only taken small game with the handgun but aspire more. I have a Single Six .22 that is scoped and a SBH 44 that is not.
