I have owned several old style contenders which have been sold a while ago, so I know what I am getting into with the old style frames.
Can anyone with G-2 experience please enlighten me with plus' and minus' between the Old style vs G-2? I am considering the purchase of either one and I am leaning towards the G-2.
Any help would be appreciated!!

Joe

I presently own two older frames and a G2. I like the trigger on the older frames better than the trigger on the G2. That is the one thing that I like better about the older frames. I do not think that the G2 trigger is bad either. I really like the ease at which the G2 frame opens as well as the distance between my knuckles and the trigger guard. I think that I would prefer the G2 hands down except for the fact that there are no synthetic forends and grips available.

The one thing that I find that stands out the most is the ability to let down the hammer and recock it with out opening and closing the action again on the G2. with a little work on the trigger spring I think the trigger is very good on the G2.
the only factory grip that is avalable at this time is the wooden one. I would really like to see some kind of rubber cushioned grip.

Does anyone know what dealer cost is on the G-2? I have access to FFL to buy at cost but the holder is out of town right now.
Thanks, Joe

somewhere less than $250....but not sure how much they make on em.

the G2 is extra nice in my opinion. only reason i'd ever buy an old model now....is just because it's not made anymore. imo, the G2 is better or just as good in EVERY other way.
the ol trigger is better trick doesn't fly with me. my G2 trigger is 15oz's after a little fiddling. they can be worked....just takes different ways.

sigh.......sure will miss those pretty etchings on the sides though.

there is a free download on encore triggers(instructions) at www.bellmtcs.com
the encore and G2 are nearly alike. you can replace the factory spring with lighter ones, and even carefully polish internals.

on mine....i removed the trigger guard, and weakened the factory trigger spring, by pushing the L shaped end down toward the inside of the frame. had someone tell me that, and it worked.

the professional way would be with the free download, and spring replacement. bellm also has written instruction that can be purchased.
