Not sure if this is the right spot but here goes. You've decided to hunt white-tails this afternoon, from the ground or an on the fly blind. You have your handgun, binos, water etc.etc. what outer clothing do you wear?Camo?Jeans and a flannel print?Coveralls?Ball cap?Cowboy hat?Half camo?Just curious of how others do.For me if a blind on the fly is a possiblity,it doesn't matter comfortable is most important. If I maybe in the open then camo.Has what you wore ever got you busted?

All camo except for the least amount of blaze orange legally required. I hate blaze orange. Blaze orange has gotten me busted for sure because it can attract their attention when other clothing won't.

I like wool and fleece camo clothing. Both are quiet and insulate when wet. Its the same clothes I wear bowhunting, just with an orange vest over the top.

I wear all camo except for my ball cap which is blaze orange camo, if I wear one of my cowboy hats I use a blaze orange hat band and during elk season if I'm in an area with alot of hunters I wear a blaze camo jacket.

When in a blind I like to be comfortable. When on the ground I like the camo. And always the Orange when required. During muzzleloading, I have shot a few wearing a white t-shirt and shorts. As for the camo, I try to keep the weather in mind. I am usually 20-22 ft. in the air.

If you ever hunted in PA you would realize that blaze orange is your friend...especially during deer and turkey season. We have some down right idiots running the woods around over here. For warmer weather (40-50 degrees) I wear camo jeans, lightweight fleece coat and lightweight solid orange vest over top. Less than those temps then I just add underneath layers and a heavier coat with fleece orange vest over the top.

During all firearms seasons we are required to have 50% of our body in orange. Blaze orange camo is legal and what I wear. I do believe it breaks up the outline significantly yet is easy for other hunters to see. Whether it works or not I also spray with a UV inhibitor.
Rod, too.

In VA where I used to hunt camo blaze orange didn't satisfy the requirement for wearing orange. Thankfully only a hat is required.

Dan is right about the crazies in the woods with high power rifles. I stopped hunting public land in eastern Pennsylvania because of them.I remember seeing hunters wearing blaze orange from head to toe.For me, if I have to wear orange it kills the whole purpose of camo and usually wear just a camo or red and black checkered wool jacket.Without the blaze I`ll have complete camo with face mask.

so are we hunting for deer in Colorado in October or SW Pa in December? I like my wool, but like my fleece too. When I'm on my uncles private farm, the orange rule is dismissed. Full camo-full face paint, suppressed 30-whisper....just kidding, but it sounds good, huh?

Fortunately, here in N.H. there is still no blaze orange requirement - only a recommendation. I wear blaze orange when bird hunting in October, as shooting woodcock and grouse in thick alders can be fast and furious. My hunting partner and I like to know where each other are at a glance. As for deer and bear hunting - I WILL NOT wear blaze orange! ANY! Though, I expect one day the libs in our state legislature will force me to. In September bear hunting it's my light camo chamie shirts and Wrangler camo cargo pants. Camo ball cap.(I have been known to wear my well worn and torn olive Stetson) During blackpowder season (1st 11 days of November) my light camo jacket comes out, the Wranglers stay until the temp gets cold. By the time blackpowder is over its plenty cold enough for my green Johnson wool buffalo check coat and I switch to my Cabela's flannel lined olive cargos, thermal top and bottoms, and green Stormy Kromer up top. Boots range from noninsulated 18" Lacrosse Alpha lights for bird hunting to Hi-Tec Gortex light hikers for early bear and deer, to Cabela's 14" Gortex Huntmasters for late season deer. Gloves range from light noninsulated Remington Gortex gunners in bird season to jersey camos (with sticky palms)in bear and early deer season, to heavy Cabela's insulated Gortex gloves (with shooters finger) in late season. I usually carry a light pair of gloves in late season as well. It's not clothing but I wear a flat camo or green buffalo check cushion snapped to my backside during all bear and deer hunting as I still-hunt 90% of the day and may choose to sit anywhere, anytime.

Red flanel Woolrich jacket, blue jeans and a Kromer cap. I hunt from 6000 to 8000 ft. so I better be prepared. The jacket is a bit much sometimes, but it doesn't weigh much and I'm glad I have it when that blowing snow comes across the mountain.
Never sat in a treestand or blind. Too fidgety I guess.

something else that I think is as important as my camo is washing them in scent and uv eliminating detergent, even with my blaze orange camo it seems to help.

Smith&Wesson camo clothing (yes, actually - works pretty well) and a blaze orange cap (sponsored by a major gun store in Stockholm). Have completed the outfit with underwear etc from Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops.
Blaze orange is actually not a legal requirement at all when hunting in Sweden. On the other hand, though, both handgun and bow hunting are illegal pursuits here...

Totally agree with dan b to many people not enough trees for protection, i'm 6'-1" 300 lbs in treestand on a field edge in total orange coveralls a hunter scoped me three times, our deer are not in trees and not nearly as large as me. In PA during rifle season or turkey season overlaps with archery orange is best friend.

actually for a 16 year old kid shooting an old 60# Bear Grizzly II instictive with fingers and at my first archery deer I think that qualifies as sporting, not to mention my buddies mom was pleased I saved her garden from that particular intruder.

jeans, rubber bottom leather upper boots, blaze orange jacket and blaze jonescap. (the law) many years ago before the law it would have been dickies green pants & shrit, work boots and a black and green wooljacket baseball cap. once almost shot a fellow with a white sailors hat while deer hunting. thanks dad for teaching me never to shoot at flags. maybe blaze isnt such a bad idea?
