Since I don't reload, what would be the best factory ammo to use for whitetail hunting with the .41 magnum.

Thad,
I'm a big fan of Federal's Castcore premium hunting line. I have utilized their 300 grain castcore in .44 Magnum in the past with very good results. Essentially, they drill holes straight through just about anything. Federal makes a 250 grain Castcore for the .41 Magnum. I highly recommend it.

I have used federal 180gr xpb with good success. Shot 8 point last year at forty yards broke both shoulders and lodged under hide on off side.Bullet expanded to .731" and retained 100% of its weight. Also grizzly ammo 250gr wfngc is really good, shoots consistent and alot of power. JDMAX

I would suggest the Winchester Platinum Tip HP. Unless they've changed, I've always found the Silver Tips to be somewhat anemic. The cast core would work well as would the Remington 210 JSP.

Federal's Cast-Core is a good one.
It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

Thad, A good place to start would be to read the recent aticle by Gary on the S&W model 57 in 41mag.He takes a good size boar and describes bullet performance on Win. Plat. Tip ammo. Federal also offers a 210JHP in their Fusion line of ammo. I recently picked up a box of Buffalo Bore`s 170gr JHP with a listed MV of 1650FPS but have not had time to test it in my 657.Good luck.

Thanks for the help. Now I just need to try a few and see which one shoots the best.

Speer's 210 Gold Dot isn't shabby either. It is marketed as a self defense load but it will knock the vitals right out of a whitetail if you ask it to.

Best factory load Ive used is the Winchester Platinum Tip. Favorite 41 mag bullet for reloading is the old Speer 220 gr JSP 1/2 jacket.

There are many good bullets listed above that will work well on deer. I prefer the Win Platinum Tip. Heavy for caliber and extremely accurate in my guns. Extra large exit holes are a nice bonus as well.
I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

Hey guys I am new here but.... I have used the Federal CastCore successfully on Black Bear here in Pennsylvania. I have some older loads which were hotter than the CastCore specs of today. I have also used the Winchester Platinum Tip's on WT Deer. Great performance from both and accurate out of my S&W 657 7.5 inch barrel w/ Bushness 2-6X scope.
