Awesome, esp. the .375 AI. Very nice! Who built the barrel? How does she shoot? Does the muzzle brake work pretty good? Who did the brake? Does the scope mount hold ok?

You have a great collection! I thought the idea behind the contender was one frame and forend, multipul barrels? I guess if you got to ask you can't afford it!

How would you like to shoot a pronghorn with THAT while laying prone on the Wyoming prairie, Gregg? If it was mine, I'm afraid it would have to wear a 6 screw T'SOB quarter rib and 4 rings. In any event, I agree that it's got a very high cool factor, and I look forward to hearing T/C Man's responses to your questions.

Very nice spread! I'm gonna have a couple new additions to the T/C family also, but don't know if they will be able participate in activities this year.

Looks like you got all the bases covered. Hope they see a little 'action'!

Mr. Richter and 500WE, the 375 AI is a Reeder custom barrel. It is a full bull barrel and is 17.5 in long with the break and has roughly 15in of rifling. So far I have ran over 50 rounds threw it. The majority were cast loads running around 1800fps. (About equivalent to a 375 Win rifle) One of the experimental cast loads shot a 1.5 in group at 100 and I was very pleased. I shot some full house 375 H&H loads in it without any problems. I have to say they kicked about like my 12in 7mm08 shooting 162 SPBT’s and a full house load of 4064. (The only difference was it had less flip and a more direct push back. But I would say it was actually less felt recoil than my old Super 16 45-70 barrel in the Contender) The break is VERY effective and honestly, I think the fact that she is a full bull barrel helps some as well. What I can say is that the person on either side of me could feel the sound wave and even air from the break. It is quite a break!

The mounts and rings are Leupold, with red lock-tight, and I haven’t had any problems with them. I had a 2-7 Burris that I took of my 7mm08, but it was turning in the rings. LOL So I took it off and put it on the 8mm GNR. I have a new 2-7 Burris on the way and I plan on putting labels in it right off the bat. PS, when I put it on my 8mm GNR I went right ahead and put labels on it!!!

As KYODE has put it before, custom barrels can be a headache, but they are worth it in the long run. They may be just minor problems like the holes to the hanger bars not lining up or 14in Contender barrels that only have one forearm screw, but what you end up with is most definitely worth it…

This sounds silly, but certain barrels lock up better on different frames. If I switch the 221 and 375 barrels and frames both the barrels will have play in the action. It is also nice having an extra set up for a hunt. I don’t like driving to my hunting location just to find out that my firearm isn’t functional!

I also have a couple of boys that might be interested in shooting as well… LOL it isn’t going to hurt to have a few extra.

The 257 is based of the 405 Win case. It has 16% more case capacity over the 25-06. In the Contender platform, you can still start at the min to mild loading value and be safe. It burns 55 grains of powder with a 115 NBT, but the min velocity starts at 2600+ fps. I could “push” it a little more but I don’t think I could gain but 50fps and it is shooting ½ groups at 100.

The 30 GNR is based of the 30-30 Win case. It is basically a 30-30 AI round. It gains a little velocity over the 30-30 AI but it isn’t worth rechambering a 30-30 AI.

Your right, a Encore 14in 445 by MGM is in order... It just may take a while with funds. LOL Maybe one day.

There were two reasons I mentioned the one frame and multipal barrels. One, with the cost of frames I thought you could have gained about four more barrels. Second, I believe I saw some differences in the shapes of your grips. This would mean a different grip with each frame. I knew you would need two forends one for ten inch and one for 14inch barrels. Thank you for your explanation.

Very nice collection!
How do you like that 257AI barrel?
My Sako pistol is 257AI but I've been thinking about getting an Encore barrel so I can seat the bullets out farther.
How long is that barrel?
If you need somebody to shoot it for a few years...just let me know!

The 257 Barrel is a 14in long MGM and I love it. Right know I am having good luck with 115 NBT’s and RL15.
