If you could pick up any gun and it doesn't have to be a handgun what would it be? Like most of you there are a ton of guns I want both short and long barreled but if I had the funds the two I'd want first primarily as defensive weapons would be an AR15 with a second upper in 50 Beowolff and the second would be a barret or bushmaster semi auto or bolt action 50 BMG. One of the stores locally has a bushmaster single shot bolt 50 but I want a repeater with extra mags.

Well ain't that a can of worms. My first choice would be a TRG in 338Laupa for out yonder affairs, and second a Linebaugh custom in 500 with a 4 3/4bl with a brass grip frame, huh just like the one he has carried for a while and third would be MSHitmans 32caliber ruger.Since we are dreaming and money no issue I am sure I could offer him enough.

The kid side of says MINI GUN or something exotic. But I would have to say that a remington 1100 tac 4 not a long distances tool but effective in the right hands with shot or slugs. Or a 6 inch .500 S&W.

I got just what those zombie's need right here!

Tough call. I think I would like to have a 475 linebaugh or maybe a 500.

When I read the write-up last fall in Shooting Times about the .416 Barrett I thought if I could, I would. I'd also like a custom SA in .475 or .500 Linebaugh, from you Rod ;-)

I would pick my 270 Win or 8mm GNR in a TC

In a revolver, I think I would have to get my hands on something like this!!! LOL

1) FA in 22/327 with a 10" octagon barrel.

2) Dan Wesson model 15 pistol pac with barrels from 2.5" to 15"

3) Custom shop XP100 in 7BR

Somewhere on down the line I might get to the rifles, when I did... a Marlin XLR in 308 Marlin Express.

I have to go with Rod on this one. Mostly because most of my guns are for hunting purposes. Oh, I have a couple of handguns that could certainly be considered of "combat" type. And my 12 gauge Winchester 1300 with the 21" smoothbore barrel option on it would certainly stop any close range thug in their blood spatter. But I don't actually own any weapons of "assault" type. With the direction things seem to be going in this country, not to mention that most of us are only one weather, cosmic, environmental, or terroristic disaster away from general anarchy, I would have to lean toward a shoulder fired weapon capable of both selective and horrific defense. The Colts, AR's, Springfields, and other "black" fully automatic weapons would be my first reach.
My unchained choice in one new hunting arm - Any high quality light mountain rifle with a variable Leupold in .300 Winchester magnum. I don't own any rifles that I would consider ideal western or northwestern big game rifles, because I've never hunted out west. A light .300 would fill that niche for me.

If we were talking a battle here in these states I would have to take a medium heavy barreled 308 with a 30" Kreiger or Lilja barrel and a good 4-16x scope with side focus all built on a Rem. 700 action. For close stuff my Taurus 1911 would do just fine.

Hunting would be a 6.5 of some sort with a 26" Kreiger or Lilja barrel and the handgun would be, well I don't know yet because I have just started this journey, but from what I hear on here Rod would build it for me.

Hmmm...If I was considering rifles it would be an AR-10 in 260 Remmy with a secondary 5.56 upper, and a tricked bolt rifle in a 338 Snipe-Tac (408 Chey-Tac necked down to 338 and improved). With this set-up, I go from close quarters, to medium long range, to scary far away. For inside 30 feet, MP-5.

I saw a show on the 408 with it's ballistic computer, that is one nice set up.

Yep, and if you neck it down to 375 or 338 and improve it and it gets way better!

The 260 Rem in a rifle format will come close to equaling what my 17-18" 6.5-284's will do, and the 5.56, set-up properly is quite lethal to 600 and even further in the right hands.

what amazed me on the AR's is just how many uppers you can get, like you said the 260 is a good one but I saw they have uppers for most of the short mags and lots of other calibers, it is like the Encore of Auto loaders. I know when I was watching the guys with that 408 it can shoot further than I can I'm sure which is why I figured the 50 would be good for me, it's got more than enough range for what I can do and a whole bunch of knock down power in case I need to stop any armored cars or helicopters.

If I am dreaming? Dream big! A M2, 50 cal. machine gun with all the right papers. They are fun. And could be sold to pay off a lot of bills, if necessary.

That is so true.
I chose the 260, because of its range and its barrel life compared to the others I had chosen. Basically picked a series of weapons that takes me from in your face to beyond a mile.

1. FA 252 in 22lr/22wrm with 7 1/2" tube (might as well be octagon).

2. FA 83 in 454 with 4 3/4" tube.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I was not thinking clearly when I picked this gun. Is it too late to get an octagon barrel on mine before it ships?

Oh yeah, 5-1/2" please.

Hope you enjoy your M97 in 41 mag as much as I have mine. It shoots nearly as well for me as my most favorite -- M83 41.

If I could pick anything...I'd like just upgrade pieces on stuff that I already have. Optics on some, stocks on others and of course, a 6.5 Grendel upper to partner with my DPMS .223 Remmy.

X2...I keep drooling over the 6.5 Grendel upper for my Sabre Defense. With great optics, of course.

Guy's if money was no issue I would have to go with this Hattiesburg MS built single shot.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:M777_Light_Towed_Howitzer_1.jpg

Otherwise I will take the modern version of this classic orignaly built by the good doctor in NOLA

This one made the top 3 "I got the money Josey" kept comming to mind.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.
