Not sure but wouldn't the 200gr FTX be a bit long for the cylinder?

Why would that be? It's a short little bullet.

What do you plan on using it for if you don't mind me asking? I played with some 200 grain Hornadys a while back just to see what kind of velocity I could get out of them. I wouldn't hunt with them, though.

I had not seen one so I should not have mentioned it. I just figured that the flex tip might add a bit of length but I reckon that must be compensated by the lighter bullet weight.

It's pretty much as long as any bullet I would think. I found this photo of the 200 grain Hornady loaded in .454 Casull that we tested some time last year.

I called hornady about this and the guy said 460 S&W only.

They say why only the 460 S&W? I've shot 300 GC @ 2000+fps out of my 7 1/2" FA 454.

It only has to do with the bullet being too long for the 454 cylinder, doesn't make sense to me but that's what hornady told me.

Evidently, the bullet isn't available alone yet (for purchase) and only avaiable in loaded .460 ammo. I actually bought a box of the 200 grain .460 ammo and pulled the bullets to use in my .454.

Thanks guys. I decided to load them in a .45LC. It's too long like some of you said. Using Fed.cases And working up a hot load. They'll be used on deer at around 50yds. Again, Thanks for the help.

Too long for your Taurus? I had no length issues in my SRH..... How long is the cylinder?
