I WOULD JUST LIKE TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS ANY RED DOT SIGHT WITH MOUNTS THAT WOULD FIT MY RUGER RED HAWK .44 MAG . I AM CURRENTLY USING A SCOPE , BUT FIND IT TO DIFFICULT TO USE FOR QUICK SHOOTING AND MOVING TARGETS. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. REGARDS GARY ANDERSON SOUTH AFRICA

My eyes are ringing ;-) Does your gun have the mounts milled in the barrel rib? You will want a 30mm sight, 'cause 1" tubes get real small 2' away from your eye. The UltraDot 30 will fit between the factory spacing. Sights that have variable reticles won't 'cause the turret housing is too long. Another option is the Weigand base, which gives greater mounting flexibility, and you use any Weaver style rings: http://www.jackweigand.com/Ruger-Redhawk-Scope-Mounts-No-Drill.html
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

S4su is correct, you are going to want to purchase a red dot sight with a 30mm tube. The larger diameter tube will help you to pick up the target more quickly, BUT will necessitate purchasing new 30mm rings to fit the SuperRedhawk.
The size of the red dot is also something to consider. I prefer a 2 MOA dot, and so I like the 30mm Matchdot from UltraDot which gives me the choice of a 2, 4, 6 or 8 MOA dot.

Another satisfied 30mm UltraDot user here. Mine's the UltraDot 4 & it's been eating heavyish loads (300-320s @ 1320ish)on my mod 29 for about 6yrs now without a hickup.

Slavage, you can order the 30mm ruger rings from ruger.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

thank Dave I ordered them from Ruger. I registered the gun on-line with Ruger when I got it and they gave me a discount on anything from their web site so I ordered the rings. I don't recall how much they were.

Add me to the list of satisfied Ultradot 30 owners. More than two years and thousands of full-tilt .475 Linebaugh loads later, and it hasn't missed a beat. Ruger rings are very good as well and very strong.

Tru Glo makes a variable size or a fixed size dot. Fixed is 2.5moa and the variable is 2,4,8, and 10moa.

Ruger wants 80 bucks for their rings!! Must be made of gold or something. Before I coughed up the $80.00 for the Ruger rings, I had a set of Redfields on my custom .475 SRH. In a couple of months, I managed to shear the pins/studs that keep the rings from moving forward or backward. The Ruger rings cured that problem. They're pricey, but they're really good and as tough as nails.

I use the Ultra 30 four dot on my 629 Classic S&W and am very pleased with it's performance. Been on there for 5-6 years now without problems. I can see the dot at dawn or dusk when most deer are seen. Steve

I recently added the Ultra Dot 30 to my .41 Mag Redhawk. I used the Weigland mount as I wasn't sure what red dot I was going to use and not all will fit between the rings. It adds a lot of versatility. Last week I shot a doe at 106 measured yards with the Redhawk/Ultra Dot and using a hastily cut forked sapling for a rest. She went down like a sledge hammer hit her. I used a handloaded XTP. I have used other red Dots in the past, some held up, some did not but so far I am really liking this one.

My Ultradot 30 has withstood literally thousands of full-tilt .475 Linebaugh loads and it hasn't missed a beat. You will be hard pressed to find a tougher unit, particularly for the money.

frankt, I couldn't help but notice that slab of Cedar your gun is resting on. I had a similar piece that I mounted it on my lathe and turned it into a platter for a wall hanging. To stay on topic, I'm in the market for a red dot scope - that's what got me interested in this thread.
