Both came in yesterday.
Two completely different SP's, yet both on the horsey LR aspect of thing for their caliber.
Hopefully, I will have time to break the barrel in on the 338AX this next week.

I haven't weighed either of them yet, but the 338 AX weighed less than I expected.
I put the Huskemaw scope on it already-Not a light weight rig, but fairly light for what it is chambered in.

What action are these built on? That 338 blows the doors off of my 338 and 8mm 350 imp xp's. I wonder if an 18"barrel would give me that much mmore velocity?
By the way, I am very interested in going to WY to the long range shoot.

6.5WSM is on BAT single-shot action and the 338AX is on a single-shot XP-100.

Are your wildcats based off of the 350 Rem Mag case?

Yes,
I have a 257, 338, 375, and an 8mm that is very improved. Have had 30, 458 as well all based on the 350 case. I tried the wsm cases, but in every caliber I was able to get more velocity from the 350 cases.

I will be running a couple of 6.5WSM XP's in a couple of months.
Usually I run a 17-18" barrels on my LR rigs.
What are your barrel lengths on your respective 350 Rem. Mag. Imp. wildcats?

Make an outstanding antelope cartridge, too!

A 17" or 18" barrel would surely improve your MV's

No shooting this week-To cold for this boy, plus I have some other commitments that would have held me back anyway.
Also getting some stock/pillar bedding work done on the 6.5 as well.
I want to get everything just right while it is cold and during the Christmas Holiday, so they will be ready to roll, when I have time. Plus, I am waiting for some rings for the 6.5 as well.

Excuses, excuses. Of course, I have been witness to your wussiness (is that spelled with an "i" or "y" in the middle?) in the cold weather. So I realize that would hold you back from enjoying such wonderful new toys! Send them to me...

Setting time aside for shoot one and clean on my 338 AX at a gunsmith friend of mine south of town next week. He has a bore scope which will allow me clean enough but not to much, when doing shoot and clean.
Barrel break in will use Retumbo and 300 gr. SMK's.
Also have 265 gr. HAT's now-can't wait to give them a try once the H-1000 comes in.

Besides some bedding work on the 6.5WSM I will shorten the barrel to 18" so I can use it for Mertz's 1K match. It will also a sport a McRee stock in the future for field use.
I still want better dies for the 6.5WSM and got some Christmas money, so those will be ordered soon as well.
Now have 30mm Rings that fit the Kelbly type base as well now too.

When I go out there (hopefully) next week for some shoot and clean barrel break-in on the 338AX, I will take some pics of the 6.5WSM.
It may not be altogether, but it is a sweet looking rig for sure.
