Tyler I have one I purchased from Fox Ridge. I have not taken any deer with it yet but it's a lot of fun to shoot.

I have an original one as offered in the T/C Catalog some years ago. Now the ML Barrel is only available from Fox Ridge, as
MlHunter has.

When I bought mine, it came with a whole booklet on different load data for different weight bullets and different versions of black powder, etc. MlHunter: Just curious, does Fox Ridge send out that booklet?

It is fairly easy to duplicate .454 Casull ballistics with the 50 caliber Encore ML Pistol. I killed a bull elk and several antelope with mine (there is good footage of one of them on my Handgun Hunting Video). Click the link below to see pic. (Gary...I have followed directions but can't get the photos to post...just the link...sorry)

Gregg they did not send one when I got mine. It took around 8 months to get because the forends were on back order but that was about 2 years ago.

Gregg, it might be easier on you if you post it in the articles. Just a thought.

How many grains of powder do you use with a 15 inch barrel?

I use 100 grs. of Triple 7 and a saboted 300 gr. 45 cal. XTP. I took a doe (about 100 yards) and a wild hog (about 50 yards) with mine this year.

They are a hoot. I sold my encore rifle 209x50 this summer so I would start using the 15" 209x50.
I shoot 100grn of 777 with a 250grn Shockwave or Powerbelt 245grn aerotip.
I have the fiber optic open sights.
I took this whitetail at 85yds opening morning here in Oklahoma.
Drop at the shot.
Mike

I've had one for 3 years. I have shot 777, BlackMag 3 and Blackhorn 209. I only use the last 2 now. They are cleaner, shoot just as fast and since I have allergies, easier on my nose.
I got 1 doe last year, no opportunities so far this year.
8o grains blackhorn 209 or 85 of blackmag3 =dead on at 75 yards. I use Harvester 260 gr, polymer tip. Here are some load ballistics-
http://www.hpmuzzleloading.com/LoadsBallistics.html
I have used Hornady xtp's with good accuracy too.

I live in Delaware and hunt in Maryland. Can't use it in De. except as a final shot for wounded deer. can use it anywhere in Md. Has a Boyds grey camo rifle fore end cut down and refinished.

match grade machine said they would make one. I would love to find one that is capable of using smokeless like my savage. SMI makes a rifle length barrel but I dont like the twist rate they use. otherwise I would cut one down and re-crown in

Right now I have two 15" encore 209x50 barres ls one older blue one and a newer Custom shop in S.S. that I just got used. I paid a round $300 for the custom shop barrel. and I have no idea of what I paid for the blue one.

I have taken more deer then I can remember with the blue barrel most where shot under 50 yards. This is the only encore handgun barrel I can use around me for deer hunting.
When you get your bullets watch what you get do not get any bullets deranged for the mag charges as they will not open up at the speed you will get from the shorter barrel and lighter powder charge. I have good results using Light field alpha gold 300 gr, Barnes copper solid 250 gr and T/C 240 cheap shot. and they all hit close enough to each other as to not matter under field conditions.
I was using 90 grs of goex black powder but I have now switched to 90 grs of Blackhorn 209 powder. it shoots the same as the goex powder but I do not have to clean the barrel right after shooting it. This past season I shot a doe opening morning and didn't clean the barrel for a week after had no rust or any issues.

Bullberry also makes a contender and encore 209x50 barrel. I had a contender 14" 209x50 barrel from bullberry and took a few deer with it but I sold it off to buy the encore barrel the reason being that the bullberry didn't have a holder for the ramrod so I and to carry it separate and was a hassle. the encore barrel has the holders so it is a lot less to have to worry about.

They are a lot of fun to shoot and with in the range very effective on deer.

This past October I took a head shot on a doe at 30 yards and she went right down and almost blew out the eye on the far side.
