This spot is about a mile from my house but I've only been hunting it for four years. Mostly since I got into LR shooting. It offers some decent setups and a lot of area to watch with scattered cover, travel routes and food/water.
Just last year I found a nice rock to use as a shooting bench. Since the hill I set on slopes down and most of the shooting is straight across or elevated it requires the use of a taller bipod to get into any sort of comfortable position.
Each year on the last Thursday or Friday, my fiend Rick will park on the other side of the hill (in the bottom pic) and still hunt all around the woods. Rick likes to walk, I like to sit.....guess who kills the deer!
The deer will usually drop into the field where I can see them then sneak along the woods and bed out of his sight, but in mine, or duck back in. Usually they bed in the wood block above the scope level (bottom pic). But this year there is a standing corn field on top of that hill which is keeping them pretty well occupied.
Hopefully on Friday we'll do out annual "push" and bump out the nice buck I saw yesterday. We've done this three year. The first two years I killed deer. Last year I was tagged out and took my grandfather...we saw shootable deer but he did not get a shot off.
