I have a 10" 7mm BR Encore barrel that is fun to shoot, but unfortunatly, I haven't gotten around to hunting with it yet, or seriously working up a load...I certainly plan to do both.

RE7 shows promise for a decent 120 grain whitetail load.

I use mine for deer hunting and antelope, coyotes and plinking.
I shoot 120grn Nosler Ballistic Tips, and will have to wait until I get home to get my favorite loads.
They are good out to at least 250 yds I know. Here is a photo of my neighbor I took to Wyoming and had him shooting my XP in 7BR with a 2x6 scope. He took this goat at 235yds, one shot.

Don't have a 7br, but do a 7-08 and I think a shorter version would be great in a handgun with a 14" (+or-) barrel. You'd lose a little speed, but not so much that a 120 grain Nosler BT wouldn't still work beyond 300.

Rod, too.

That's longer than I would use it.....I thought the 7BR was only a hair more powerful than the 7TCU.

It has to be more powerful than the 7-30, and I'll stretch that to 300 although it is nearing the end of it's usefulness. Maybe I am overestimating, as I am unsure of the difference in capacity.

Just checked and Accurate data has a 120 Nosler leaving a 15" barrel @ 2,400 fps +or-, my 14" Waters does just about the same. So, 300 might be at the end of the line for the 7BR.
