That Blackhawk is Kalifornia approved, since it is a single action.Single actions are exempt from the incredibly stupid drop test law.

That 8-shooter has me interested, but needs a Bisley grip. I was at the store today and asked my guy how long. He said they are shooting for April but expect June.
Now, where's my 5-shot .480 SA!!!!!!!!
Rod, too.

What would the .327 be comparable to and what place would it have as far as hunting?

The 327 licks at the heals of the 357 Mag. 100-115gr pills in the 1,500 fps range. It would be a great small game and varmint gun.

I think it would make a great 'yote backup to my 22H, I currently carry a Bisley 22 mag. And, even deer within reasonable range with a well placed shot. The grip has got to be changed to a Bisley tho so it's gonna be spendy, for me.
Rod, too.

Will these be .312 groove dia or .308?? I don't remember what Ruger has put in their 32 H&R offerings...312 I would assume, but I don't know.

Yes, .312 bore. T/C used a .308 in their 32 mag and 32-20 barrels.
Rod, too.

Saw these at the Ruger booth at the Dallas Safari Club show today. Those .327 cylinders sure have lots of hole in them. Looks strange when you open them up. What caught my eye was the flat top .44 Special. It's made on a smaller frame like the original Blackhawks (I think). It is one sweet gun. According to the guy at the booth, these should be shipping anytime now.

I'm not certain what I'd do with a 327 Federal. It's a little rambunctious for a bunny gun, and too light for deer. Maybe everything doesn't have to have a defined purpose.

Gregg,
THATS a GREAT quote!!!(the wife)
Bowmag,
Tell us more about the .44 Special Flat Top. THAT sounds very interesting!
(Note to Tigg; nevermind the Anniversary .44 magnum - I already have one of those. I'm now fantasizing about a .44 Special Flat Top. Get to the gettin')

I'm not much interested in the anniversary model. I don't really like the blackhawk grip frame, and the 44 Special does not do much for me either. It is on the smaller 357 frame which would make it a nice belt gun. But I could make an exception for the 327 Blackhawk. It would make a nice project gun. Add a bisley grip frame and a 6" or 7" octagon barrel, action job and a tight base pin. That would be cool! The GP100 is still a nice option as the GP/SRH grip fits my hand well. I just wish they offered a 6" barrel.
Lipseys exclusive offering, the 44 Special in a 4 5/8" flat top.

Tigg,
I agree about the GP. LOVE my GP 4" and it's natural pointability (is that a word in Webster's?). Had it for years and I can hit just about anything I want with it. It's long since been classified as one of my "keepers".
Now,
Back to the .44 Special Flat top. The way I see it, you should buy one anyway - ya know - just to see if it's something you'd be interested in. If not, You can always unload - err, sell it to me for say, oh, $150 less than you paid for it. After all - it would be a "used" piece at that point. It's only fair to give a fellow handgun hunter a break. (insert Renfield laugh)

Tell ya what, I'll get the flat top 44 special and you get a nice Dan Wesson model 15-2 with a 6 or 8 inch barrel, or both. Then when I don't like the 44 special we can trade. (insert Renfield laugh)

Do you know...once upon a time I owned a DW model 44 with 6" (or was it 8"?) barrel. Of course, I had the wrench and could have also put any other barrel my heart may have desired on it. Instead, I subsequently and temporarily lost my mind and traded it for something else and I don't even remember what at the moment. THAT was a nice wheelgun and should have ended up being classified as a "keeper". But, alas I too was once young, poor, and lusted after things that I did not have, and ended up trading things that I should have kept in order to get them. Ahh...youth. To be young again...without the "stupid" factor!
Your proposal would be sound, except that I'm quite positive that I would fall head over heals for any DW 15-2 that found it's way home with me, thus making a trade unlikely. Best that you just go ahead and buy that Flat top and try it out for me. It's probably no good, but I would want the opinion of another trusted old hand 1st. By the way, speaking of no good single actions, do think that Cotton has tired enough of that .45 caliber paperweight that he bought last year to unload - err, sell it to me for my desk? Barrel's too short... and it never did shoot straight.
