The Lyman works just great. I've dropped mine off the bench several times and compared it to a friends to make sure it was still close and it is just as accurate as when I bought it.

I have an ancient Lyman, but you can get the almost anywhere. Once you have one, you won't understand how you functioned before you got it.

Thanks guys.
Your reports are interesting.
On Midways sight there are 10 reviews on the Lyman, & 6 of those were unhappy & most said they wished they had spent the additional $12 on RCBS.
A guy offered me a used Lyman on another forum for $30.00 + shipping, but Midway has new for $33. + shipping. I passed.

I would have too. Also look at Rotometals & Bill Ferguson. They both carry good (allegedly)quality thermometers.

Had to order something else from Midway so I ended up ordering from them. Had a hard time deciding betwen Lyman & RCBS due to the $20 price difference, but the 4.8 rating for the RCBS vs 2 for the Lyman finaly made me go RCBS. Quality only hurts once right?
