I have really be thinking that I need a new revolver. Just wanting to see what you guys have out there. I am looking to part with a few toys and maybe have a new revolver built of some sort. Just looking for some examples and who did the work.
Thanks Ray

Can't resist promoting my own design here, although all the gunsmithing (on an old m/29-2) was done by a real gunsmith: and these are the components of the rig: and this is the custom hunting revolver compared to my other .44mag, a Performance Center Extreme Hunter 629-5: Just some food for thought from Sweden....

Good looking iron. I like long barrels.
The only thing that would make them better is a Swedish bikini model holding them.

Yeah, I generally think SRH's are butt ugly, but that 5" SRH looks good.

This is a custom 475 Linebaugh built by Gary Reeder.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

....KRal - What model Reeder is that? It's an Alaskan Hunter, but pretty much of all Reeder's custom big bores are built to your desire, regardless of which "model" you get. It's a shooter, too.

Here are my 44's. The Blackhawk was done up by Mag Na Port and my Redhawk by Jack Huntington.

MlHunter: That would work for me as I have large hands...and love the shorter barrels on revolvers. Ten (10) rating.

JD, Did you get the BH ported while @ Magnaport? What do you think of porting? Is there a big difference is recoil reduction or sound? Im considering getting my SBH done.
Thanks, Dan

hardtimes,
The 29 has an 11" Lothar Walther barrell, with a custom picatinny rail. With the right hunting loads (300gr bullets) it easily gives me 2" groups at 110 yards.
The 629 is a 12". All custom work on that one was done by the S&W Performance Center.

Rick L.,the reason that SRH looks good to you is because its not a SRH,its a redhawk.I agree the SRH are ugly,I have one in .454 casull and a redhawk in .44 mag.The casull is my main deer gun even though I think she's as ugly as sin .The trigger is much better on the SRH compared to the regular redhawk which is one more reason she see's more use than the redhawk.

Rick L.,ignore my reply.I was looking on the second page thinking you were talking about the redhawk there. An airbubble must have broke loose and instead of exiting rearward went straight to my brain."Dang",now I have to figure how ta get it outta there-L.O.L-JohnW.

It's most certainly an SRH....... Not the prettiest revolvers, but there is something to be said about their fuctionality and their all-business looks. The trigger is indeed better on the SRH.

240, The gun is ported. If i could do it again i would not get it done. It'LOUD and I don't think the recoil would be all that bad.

MIHunter (or anyone else that has one) - how do you like the short barrel on the predator conversions?

Witworth, The 500 looks like it balances nicely. I bought a 9.5" SRH, only to discover it just too long for me. I've been planning on chopping it somewhere between 5-6.5". And 5" looks pretty good. Im guessing you could still mount a 2x Leopold over that short of a barrel if you choose? What do you think?

You could mount the scope, but I built this one with a short barrel to be able to pack it, and it does balance well. I too think the 9.5 is a bit long, but at 7.5 they balance really well. This is the length of the barrel on my .475 SRH and I couldn't be happier with it!

These three are ones I built myself, starting from the top is my 9" 500 Linebaugh, 3.5" Vaquero in 500 Linebaugh, 3 screw 357 converted to 44 Spcl. This is my Reeder 6" African Hunter in 475 Linebaugh This is not a very good picture of the gun but it's the only one I currently have loaded of it by itself. This is a dog I took at 115 yds. The gun is a Reeder Southern Comfort in 475 with a 4 5/8 barrel

This is one I just finished and haven't even had out yet. It is a 7" 454 with a matte finish although I'm thinking I'll probably break it back down after I get done with it's testing and polish it up for a gloss finish. The grips I made and I decided to try something different and went with oak.
