Was wondering if anyone has had much luck on hunts or leases in Texas for big game, elk, exotics, deer, etc. or is it like shooting fish in a barrel ??? Or should a person stick with the other states for the real deal. Would appreciate anyone's opinion one way or the other. Thanks.......

Have only done one Texas high-fence hunt...it was fun, shot 137" whitetail and a big axis buck...both with my 308 encore.

While it was fun, it was not very difficult. I like to be challenged...

I hunt every year (Sept) at the Y O Ranch for exotics. You can make the hunt a challenge by being selective or you can bag a buck within a couple of hours. Restricting yourself to handguns (revolvers for me) makes a bigger challenge. This ranch is more than 40,000 acres with free roaming animals that have been established there since the 1940s. While the exotics are numerous, they are as "wild" as the native deer.

Try it. You will like it.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.
