TC use to make factory barrels in 209X45. I would call the TC (and tell them you own one,) and see what they say about your loading data! I have found it before on their web sight... You just have to find it!! LOL I would call them up and ask them about it.

A MGM 209X45... that should be a sweeeeeet barrel!!!

Is this for fun or for hunting? VA doesn't allow BP pistols for hunting. Just curious.

I have the full length 209x45cal BP barrel for my G2 Contender Rifle. You can use 150 Grains BP. I would try loads starting at 100 grains and working up from there. I found that my rifle shot the most accurate groups at 140 grains. I can shoot 1 inch groups at 100yards with 180 grain Hornady XTP bullet backed by 140 grains pyrodex.

A muzzleloading or cap-and-ball firearm .40 caliber or larger and capable of firing only a single projectile at one discharge; in-lines and scopes are allowed

Multiple-barreled muzzleloading or cap-and-ball firearms and/or muzzleloading or cap-and-ball handguns, including revolvers, .40 caliber or larger are allowed and may be carried in addition to a muzzleloading or cap-and-ball rifle

I just got this from Missouri Conservation Sight

The 180 grain xtp from Hornady is a Shot I am Concedering.
I heard tell that some of T/C Shot can Very in Dia.

Mike,

Just curious...

Why .45 cal instead of 50 cal. (or more)?

I don't think the G2 will handle a bigger plateform

Oh yeah, it'll handle it. Bullberry has been makin' a 50 cal ML tube for years for the Contender. T/C just wants to sell more Encores.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

When I asked MGM if they make a B/P barrel for a G2 ,
They said they would make a 45 for it.
I have read other sights that say it shoots better than the 50
I am not real up on Balistics , Coeficents , Ect.
So I try to read as much as I can ,
AND ASK THE EXPERTS !!
Which is why I am here .

I will Listen to all the Advise I CAN GET.

That sounds like it would really be a fun pistol!

Depending on what you are going to hunt with it, I will share this with you:

With muzzleloaders in Colorado you can hunt deer, pronghorn and bear with a minimum caliber of .40. For elk and moose you need a minimum of .50 caliber.

I only have experience with the Encore 209X50 ML Pistol (50 cal) and killed a bull elk with a 320 gr. Maxiball with one shot at about 70 yards.

I have a 15 inch 209X50 Encore. I took a whitetail doe with mine this year at about 100 yards and a wild hog at about 50 yards. I'm using a 45 cal. 300 grain XTP and 100 grains of Triple 7 powder.

I will be hunting Deer .
Out to 100 yards
Is the 50 realy better than the 45 for this?
I know there is a lot more components av. for 50.
I Like the G2 Pistol better in my hands.( I Have ARTHRITIST)
I have a G2 30-30 pistol.
And a Encore 209-50 / 30-06 Rifle.
The rifle was Registerd by the Gunshop as a Pistol at time of
PURCHASE.
However I am told that since it left the Factory as a Rifle
that is what it is.(By info on this sight)
