I just started reloading for this round, and am looking for a place to start. My first round is 41 grns of H380 under a 140 grn speer point. Havn't had a chance to shoot yet. Any favorite powders or bullets for cold weather whitetail hunting?

I took sevearal deer using a 154gr SST and Varget from a 7-08 Striker. I've loaded a bunch of 139gr Hornady BTSPs for my dad to use on deer in a 7-08 and 7mm RAUM rifle.

The places I get powder are having a hard time getting any Varget. Any other favorite powders?

My best luck has been with 42gr of RL 15 and a 139 SpBt. I don't know if your barrel will like it or not, but the two barrels I have had favored it.

H-4895 40.0 grain with 140's and 42.0 grains of the same powder with 120's (NBT's).

h414 and 120 sierra spitzers awsome load and puts em down, also shoots really great groups 1/2 at 100 and almost through the same hole at 50, but agin like all shooting on game shot placement is everything. My dad also shoots the same load out of his encore and gets just about as good of results as me, but i think some of it is him also.

45 Gr varget with 120 BT at 2600 out of 15". had a pass through at 296 yards last year. sighted in 1" high at 100 was about 1.5-2" low at 200. great round

41.5gr H4895 with 120gr nbt. super accurate!
