Here is my son with his first critter taken with a handgun. He used a .22lr Single Six.

This my 9 year old daughter Emily. She has been shooting since between 4 and 5 years old but always rimfire and mostly pistols. Oregon has a special hunting season now for kids under 12 called the mentored youth program where you must stay with the child at all times and the animal they kill goes on your tag and they can fill as many peoples tags as will let them. I had a Rosse matched set 20ga, 22lr, and 243 but she didn't want to use it instead as soon as she caught a glimpse of my G2 in rifle configuration with a 7-30 barrel she claimed it. with in a half hour or less I had her shooting balloons at 100yds. I've found with the younger ones that more interactive targets keep them focused better than just a piece of paper.

Kirsten's first buck-250 yards with a 260 Rem MOA Maximum--1-shot kill.


Another 250 yards buck with a 6.5-284 barrel. Bullet was the 142 SMK.


Erik's cow elk shot with a 260 Rem MOA--Bullet was the 120 grain NBT and range was 75-8- yards. 1-shot kill with nice exit wound.


Erik's first time shooting at 1,000 yards. There is a 3-shot group and 4-shot group, with the 6.5-284 MOA Maximum.

GREAT photo's, every one!! My 3 kids were here before the digital age and so far, none of the 7 grandkids (5 boys, 2girls) have showed any interest, but I keep trying.

Katie and her first charlie in 2007 she was 13. She has a copy of this picture in her locker at school and it makes the boys jealous. LOL She was quite proud, and I was too.




Nate is not old enough by law to hunt yet but he goes with me all the time. He has the most interest of the three. The smile says it all!! This picture was in 2007. He went alot this summer '09 to keep me on the straight and narrow and my wolf felt better he was along. He will tote his BB gun with us charlie hunting and I'll throw an alluminum can out a ways and he will shoot it every now and then "to keep in practice Dad". I have a picture of my middle son but can't find it right now I'll edit the post when I do.

It's an Eastern. It's a unique coloring, Bronze, with solid black wing primary's.

10-4 that. I had it DuraCoated and it was her 8th birthday present. She got pretty proficient with that little set up.
