Has anyone used the Lee Load All Die for handloading the Contender in 30-30. I sold all of my reloading equip. and dont want to spend the $ to get back in it. This tool seem to be the way for me to go, just dont know much about it, other than this single die tool will necksize and handload ammo and is somewhat slow compared to a press.

I presume you mean Lee Loader. Try eBay ( I know they're antigun ); however, That is exactly why I continue to buy gun related items from them. Perhaps they will get the message, perhaps not! Another consider is a used Lyman 310 "tong" tool. They are quite available and handy. Also, there are many other dies sets available for the 310 tools.

The tool Im talking about comes with a single die that allows decapping with a mallet,neck sizing the brass and seating the bullet with a single handheld die. Even comes with a measuring scoop for several popular loads. I thought it is called the Lee Load All. Everything Ive read about the tool is very positive only downfall is it is slow compared to a press. Im just not sure how neck sizing will work for the Contender or a 30-30.

dog, you got the right thing in mind. I think they still sell them @ Midway. I've never used one tho, for a few dollars more you would enjoy a benchtop unit much more.

I apologize the name is Lee Classic Loader. They sell for only 22 bucks about the same price as regular dies. I think Ill give them a try if they will seat a pointed bullet. I want to shoot some 125gr. BT bullets in the 30-30.

I don't see why they wouldn't seat any bullet, but IDK.

I haven't used the 30-30 one, I had a 44mag, and 20ga ones long ago, almost a pain in the but to use. I now use the lee hand press, used to come as a kit. 20+ years and doing well :p But yes you need the regular dies.

They work well. A guy that shoots with us used one for a 308. Only complaint he had was it was slow in production.

I'ved used one for a while in 30-30. My only complaint would be seating the primers. I guess I'm a bit heavy handed, but never really liked tapping the primers in. Always had decent accuracy and such. Wife and kids bought me a set of dies for Christmas, she didn't really like the tapping, thought her husband was a shoemaker or something.

I checked on eBay, there are several Lee Loaders in 30-30 and several Lyman 310 tools. Goose is right about the primer seating. They are tapped into the primer pocket. If you are canted or a little heavy handed, the primer can detonate. Therefore, I always wore safety glasses. However, the better option was to get a hand priming tool. I've used the Lee loaders for many years and have been completely satisfied. They are sloooooooow! Additionally, the truly neck size only, which is exactly what you want when loading for the Contender. Currently, when working up loads, I prep the brass, size, prime, etc., then bring my Lee loader to the range and charge and seat the bullets there. Says travel time to and from the range for load workup. Also, the bullet seater accommadates most bullet profiles, except for wide meplat cast in the rifle kits. That is not an issue for the handgun kits. DwarvenChef's suggestion of the Lee hand press is also a very good option, it utilizes standard dies, therefore is not caliber specific.

Thanks for the replies, I kinda thought I would get the hand primer for the reasons listed. I like not having to touch a primer before seating them. Reload a caliber for about 40.00 sounds like a good deal. Im not worried about time. But somewhat concerned with safety. Sure do wish I would have kept all my reloading equip. now!
