Been shooting alot of 22LR from my Contender and Encore and working on field shooting positions. Match 22LR barrels and ammo let you know when YOU do something wrong cuz it sure isn't the gun or ammo. Creedmore at 50yd and 100yd reduced-size steel plates is a ton of fun. I can't wait to shoot the SWPA steel with the big guns!

Hey Dan, amybe in May we should limit teh 25, 50 and 100 water bottles to 22LR!! I think hollow points will blow them up?

A person who doesn't own a .22lr (and you can never own too many) is missing essential nutrients in their shooting diet!

Basics is good. I use to go early to winter league and shoot my 22's off hand. The single six and the MKII at paper and steel. Interesting idea with the closer jugs. Or maybe the clay piegons.

Single Six's as good as I've heard over the years?

My SS is decent with the bulk ammo. The CCI Mini Mags do well, but they are a little expensive just to plink and punch paper. I use the Mini Mags when it goes along as backup on charlie hunts. I have not run the expensive target ammo thru it looking for exact accuracy. I don't have much experience with the mag cylinder either as the ammo is a little pricy. I have been thinking of trying the new Hornady V-Max stuff and charlie hunting with it.

In genral my Single Six is "good" in both calbers but I read a long time ago that sence the barrel diameter is a COMPROMISE between the .22 LR and the .22 Mag BULLET DIAMETERS, ie .22 mag is a bit larger than .22 LR, therefore the barrel is the .22 Mag diameter)), that it is not the greatest accuracy for a revolver.

I have one of the original SGB tools so I can buy roundnose bullets and turn them into excellant hunting bullets.I haven't tried them on any charlies yet but with lung shot squirrels they kill them fairly quickly, not as fast as a good hollow point, but they get the job done quite effectively.I haven't noticed any difference in accuracy when shaving down these loads compared to unaltered ammo.

Paco Kelly's "Accuriz'r" tools will let you "slug up" the bullets to match the chamber mouths and barrel. Similar to the SGB, with various options.
