Does anyone manufacture a no drill scope mount for a Ruger super blackhawk? If so who? and if not what is my best option for getting a solid scope mount? Thanks in advance, your knowledge is much appreciated.

I had a mount for my SBH a few years ago made by b square. It was a no drill and tap mount that mounted in the rear sight pocket and it had a clamp that clamped to the barrel. It seemed to hold pretty well.

It is not what you are asking for... But look at a Weigand mount. It is just my .02's and it is any were from being gospel… LOL

I agree with s4s4u. I had a couple of the clamp on's and they did ok on light recoiling loads like a 38/357 and I had one on a 41 that did ok but they start shifting when you step up to harder recoiling cartridges like the 44. I've used both the Leupold and Weigand bases and prefer the Weigand as they allow you to use more than 2 rings if you want. I use 4 rings on my 475 and 500 linebaughs to stop scope tube deflection and the other nice thing is you have alot more room to adjust scope position on the gun. The Leupold sits the scope too far back for my liking. If your not comfortable drilling the gun most reasonable gunsmiths should probably do it for 20 to 30 bucks although there are some I've seen that charge as much as 50.00.

I agree with all the above. That said, I have a B-Square mount mentioned above that I will sell you for $25 dollar. I had it mounted on a 45lc many years ago. It held zero for three years with stout 250gr loads. I removed it and put it on a single six for about 9 years with no problems....but I still would recommend
a drill and tap mount....;)

Thanks for the info guys! I will most likely try that B-square mount. The rig in question isn't mine and the owner of said revolver is in a hurry to try a scope on his gun but is obsessed with not changing it any way(read new screw holes). This will be a .44 with fairly light loads used on whitetail between 50 and 75 yards. I really expect this ruger scoping project to result in a serious case of gear lust, he'll shoot it for a season and then go nuts chasing after specialty pistols and fancier revolvers until he settles down to what works best for him. This is just his first step onto that slippery slope.

I had the "No Drill" B-square on a SBH and it would not hold with light 240g loads. I would NOT recommend it.

I just ordered this one for my SBH .44... I'll let you know how it holds up.

that is the one I had a couple of and like I said in my earlier post it seemed to hold on the 41mag I gave to my step dad. I will warn you that generally the barrel clamp will wear the bluing off after a bit and definitely loctite it. I use red (high strength) but I've seen alot of broken screws when people tried to remove them without heating them first with a lighter or propane torch. I also use blue (medium strength) on my rifles and it holds pretty good but I've had the base on my 475 rattle loose with it.

I've used red locktite on a few of my rifles and to remove those I heat the screws up with a soldering iron.

SO? what's the story? Happy with it? I was just looking at the same mount for my Bisley. Curious how you fared with it.

I have used many clamp ons and never a problem if you follow instructions on installation...you don't need 80 ftlbs to hold...Recommend..
