I have found a 2X Nikon Pistol Scope in Silver. It is listed as referbished, and priced at $120. What is your experiance with Nikon pistol scopes? Going on a Ruger Super Redhawk 44 Magnum.

I have one on a Contender 45-70 with no problems. I have a few Nikon pistol scopes and many Nikon Monarch and Buchmasters on some of my Rifles. I like them a lot. My Nikon 4.5x14 survived lots of snow and cold in Colorado. Never hada failure yet. It is on my 338 Win Mag. I am not sure why, but I have never had all the probelms with any of my scopes as mentioned here on this site. I have soem really heavy recoilers too. I have a variety of Bushnell, Simmons, tasco, Leupold, Burris and Nikon. I still consider my Leupolds to be my favorite, but its probably only because I have been using them the longest.

I have a 2x monarch and a 2.5x8 monarch. I like both very much. The 2x sat atop a 475 linebaugh (without brake) for two years without a problem. It now sit on a 30/30 win. The 2.5x8 now sits on the 475 linebaugh (with brake now). Both has very good glass and I love the fine duplex crosshairs.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I had one on my 475 for a while in fact there is a pic on the bragging board with it but I had no problems. I just wanted a silver scope and I had bought this one in matte because it was a good deal but I'm partial to leupold so I replaced it with a silver 2x Leupold and sold the Nikon. I've only owned two Nikons and I bought both because they were on sale for a good price, the other is a 3x9x40 that sits on a Ruger 77MK II in 338 Win and after a hundred or so rounds it's doing fine. I have no problems whatsoever with the quality or clarity I'm just partial to Leupold because of their quality and the fact they are made about an hour away.
I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist

I have 2 nikon variables on my 308 & 22-250 strikers that work great, but the first one was originally bought for my 460 and it wouldn't hold up. returned it twice , they sent me a brand new one the third time and it went on the 22-250. still pleased with them on the strikers, now have leupold and halosight for the 460 and no problems

I am three months late on this but....I have returned two of these to Nikon. First one lasted maybe 50 shots then developed pinpoint of light on lenses, then a fuzzy half moon shape. Nikon sent brand new one. 20 shots and again had pinpoint of light. Sent it back and asked for my money back so I can buy a Leupold. Had it mounted on 454 Casull on Super Redhawk shooting medium powered loads...250gr at 1650 fps.

Wholesale Sports has both the 2X and 4X Leupold handgun scopes on sale for $270.00 in the store. I think it's important for people to try different brands to see what works best for them. There is not one magic company. I would have recommended Leupold; I have a dozen on different rifles and pistols and have only had a problem with a set of Binoculars. I’m a little prejudice; I have a relative that work there.
