The objective of this post is twofold. First for me hopefully to learn to post photos to this forum. In addition, I would like to know how others store multiple handguns in their safes. I had looked for a commercial rack to use but could not find one that fit my particular needs. While I am sure that most of you are handier with tools than I am, I managed to build these two racks to set on two shelves in my safe & hold numerous handguns. I would be interested in seeing yours. The single shots. Still the single shots. Revolvers
It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

I did not realize my photos were so bad. Will shoot them when I get time. The photos look a little better on the bragging board.

wtroper, I like your idea. I just received an OLD securities safe that used to belong to my granddad. It is a monster but is in need of some TLC and I have fix the interior for storage. Do you just your stands in the safe like they are setting on the table or do the guns hang?

Geojanitor,
The stands set on shelves in the safe in the same way that they were setting on the bar in the photos. The one for the single shots is 33" long & has 13 slots for guns. The revolver one is only 23 1/2" long & holds 10 revolvers. My objective was to have the bottom of the grips (on most of them) rest on the shelf with the stand supporting the frames & the end of the barrels.
It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

What material did you trim the tops of the racks with?
That would work great w/ the TCs and revolvers. My problem is that the XP's and Strikers are too long for the depth of my safe....and I have a BIG safe! So they have to set side to side. Getting to the ones in the back is a pain....but it's a small price to pay for having seven XP's and two Strikers!

I use the Versatile Gun Rack for my revolvers. They come in 4 and 6 slot configurations. For my Encore barrels I use the OTT cardle system on a shelf of the gun safe. It can hold 15 barrels head to tail.

Dan,
I used 3/4" wide weather stripping.
I understand that the length of the gun may be more than the depth of the safe. In mine the safe was deep enough for the TCs and big revolvers but the shelves were not. Thus, I had to build two new shelves to get the depth that I wanted.
Tigger,
I am interested in yours. I have a Colt with a "high" mounted scope and a S&W with a dot sight that will not fit in my revolver rack. It is on the second shelf and the clearance between it and the top shelf is insufficient for these "tall" ones. One like yours might work for them.

wtroper, if you look close at the picture of the Versatile rack the front legs are shorter than the back. The picture is a little deceiving. I place the guns scope up with the grip of the gun on the low side of the rack. The trigger guard rests on the frame of the rack, so the bottom of the grip is usually off the shelf but very little. If you have oversized grips they will touch. No big deal. Any way I checked some of my scoped guns in the rack for height. The scoped K frame is 7-3/8", the scoped N frame and Super Redhawk are 7-5/8", and the scope DW Super Mag is 7-7/8" high. The shelf is 9" total height. I can slip the revolvers in and out with ease. Hope that give you an idea of what you might need for clearance.

Thanks, Tigger.
I have a S&W with a dot & a Colt with a "gawd-awful" B-Square (I think) mount that makes it too tall for the clearance on the shelf where my FA's reside. Other smaller shelves have more clearance. Bet that one will work. How long is the 4 gun one?

The 4 gun rack is 9-1/4" long and 6" deep
The 6 gun rack is 14" long and 6" deep
