Hi guys, I am truly baffled. Took this bad boy to the range on Sunday PM to wring it out. After a 10rd break in and site-in, and then working through various loads of 150gr and RL 22 until I got to what I thought was maximum (xxgrs)I sand bagged it for groups. My best 100yd was .625 inches and the worst was 1.125. My best group was 1.5grains under Hornady's maximum and right at 2900fps. Based on case extraction and primer view, the maximum is safe but I want the accuracy at this velocity over a measly 50fps difference in vleocity. Is this good enough? I put a Holland Radial brake on it and it is a pussycat with 150's!!
Baffled I say--I didnt think it would be this fast or as accurate. scope = Simmons 2x-7x 40AO target turrets. I may have found a new baby!!

NO WAY!!! I have a 218 BEE that hits harder than that. The 7mm Mag is WAY over rated.

Sounds like a winner to me. The WSM XP shoots 162's at 2825fps. Now you have me wanting to build a 7mmRM on a Striker!!

Great!
Holland's Radial Brake is a good one for sure.

I just did some shooting with my 7mm Rem Mag Imp MOA Maximum yesterday (17.5" barrel with Holland's Radial Brake).
I was shooting 180 grain JLK's @ 2685 fps.

Wow...that's gotta seem like a pee shooter compared to the AX.

Yes, but with a .735 BC it still does pretty good.

That is great news! It also helps with confidence out in the field!

Dan,
Forgot to mention it also shoots easily under 1/2 MOA and it is a MOA.

Ok, SP shooting is "new" to me for the most part but I cannot even imagine shooting some of the rounds you guys do.

I have a retired police officer buddy who has shot all his life and HE wont stand within 15 feet of me while I'm shooting my "wimpy" 260 Rem!!

Ive given up on a brake myself. One 'smith I can afford but no FFL so cant take a whole gun and the local ones want 125 to take the barrel off and replace it. Well known 'smith not too far away wants "225 installed PLUS 75 bucks for whatever rebluing it needs, AND a 6 week turn around". Plus I'd have to cut and crown to make it under legal hunting limit on length for IN with a brake.

Phooey on that noise.

Given more to thinking of building a custom stock myself with extended and weighted forearm or just stick with the pistol scope.

I'm gonna scare the neighbors as it is out hunting. With a 7 mag going off someone would be calling 911 reporting another meth lab blowing up or something. HA

Sounds neat! Just hoping I dont start liking these BIG bores...lordy momma.

Congrats, at any rate. That should reach out and knock the slobbers off anything I can think to hunt in the US.

Thanks for putting up with me and GOD BLESS!
Steve

My Holland Radial braked 7 Rem Mag Imp MOA is a non-issue when it comes to recoil.
Shoot me an email and I may be able to help you with your brake issue, if you decide you still might want one.
