I went to a gunshow today and found a Burris 3-12x32 w/posi lock for $350 new. Im not sure Ill need the posi loc feature but I hurried home to mount her.



Once she was mounted of course I had to fondle her and to be honest,I like her! I had a Leupy on her first but decided to go with the Burris and Im glad I did. She's complete minus a sling

Looks Good To Me. Now just let us know how she shoots.

I finally got her to the range this weekend and all I can say is "I cant wait to hit the woods with her!" A friend of mine found a load for her and shes dead on at 100yrds. I cant remember what he came up with but I love it. I didnt shoot for groups , I shot for at different things on the backstop. The weather was nasty so I decided to shot and get use to her. Whatever I put the cross hairs on was doomed. The recoil on her isnt that bad , it somewhat like my S&W 629 except for the fact the trigger guard tends to bite everytime the hammer falls.Im thinking if I do my part she will shoot less tha a inch at 100yrds. Im real happy with her.

(but I hurried home to mount her) I have done that also, LOL

Is that the 35 Whelen? Great looking gun! If the 35, not sure why folks in the US don't cotton to the 35s. I have a bunch and love'em, 38 spl. to 350 Rem mag.

Thx, its a 243 and Im thinking about either a 357 or 44mag too.

The .243 is a great little cartridge; I have used it on mule deer and antelope with good success with 95 gr. Nosler Partitions.

I gave my daughter-in-law an Encore in .243, and she loves it.
Hopefully she will break it in on an antelope this fall.

Yeah Ive got it in a Remmy 700 but I cant use it to hunt with unless its in a pistol. The only beef I have with her is that the trigger guard bites your trigger finger every now and then. I also thought about putting a red dot on her just to check it out. Im thinking in a hunting situation it would be easier to find your target versus lining up your paralex.But again its all new to me so I will see but I still love her.

I think you will really like the .243 when you start hunting with it. I had a Encore in a heavy barrel .243 with a 2x6 Weaver and using 100grn Remington factory ammo I took a antelope and a whitetail with it. I started reloading for it and used it several times prairie dog hunting with very good success out to 300 yds wiht the 2x6 scope. Wanted a 3x12 but never got one for it. There are many factory loads out there for you to try and unlimited data for reloading for plinking or hunting.
The red dots are great I think for revolvers and autos but limits your range due to magnification on them. I shot one on my encore 209x50 muzzleloding pistol and a 45 colt for a while but went ot a low power scope. So much better.
