So I just hunt in NY. I currently have .223, 308, 45lc/410, 500sw barrels for my encore pistol. Seeems like a pretty rounded collection caliberwise. Just thinking what "might" be a "needed" caliber to better round out my collection? Ya I know im asking for trouble as you guys will just tell me to buy them all!!! lol

You need a 416 JDJ, 416/350, or a 416/348.

Given what you alread I have, I would go for something in a 338 or 375. Fill the gap betweent the 308 and the 45/50. Larger bullet than the 30 and flatter shooting than the bigger boys. Just my thoughts.

Just my opinion... I have a .338 Federal which is one nasty little round. It'll stop a Whitetail in its tracks.

I agree with one larger than 30 & smaller than 45. A 338 or a 375 would fit nicely.

The 308 will take anything in NY state with ease, so a bigger caliber is not needed and then you still have the 500 for a hammer. My vote is for a 243 Winchester no collection is complete without a 6mm or three.

22 LR because you can't legally have more fun then a accurate 22 and a tree full of walnuts......................................well at least for the cost.

I hardly feel qualified to give advice on this forum, but will say that my .22lr barrel is a whole lot of fun, and insanely accurate.

i'm with tigger. i'd fill the gap between .223 and .308 with a 6BR.

a 22lr is a near must....but i'd want it in a contender match barrel.

Like the 22LR thought.
A 6mm would be a good addition: 6BR, 6mm-6.5x47 Lapua, 243 Win, or 6mm Rem.
Of course I like 6.5's to: 6.5x47 Lapua & 260 Rem would be great as well.

A .22 LR, a 6.5 something - I'd prefer a 6.5/.284, and a .338/.284

I have a buckmark and for small caliber would like a 17hmr striker. Seems like 338 might be an idea, or 243. thanks for advice guys

lam,

I'm with the 22 LR guys, cheapest practice and shooting fun. Helps to develop technique.
