I like wise had been wondering how you were healing up. Sounded like you had a pretty serious fall. Us old guys do not spring back as quick as we once did either. Best of luck for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for asking, fellas, I'm still here and hangin' in. I went to two docs in the past two days and they say I am coming along fine; thanks to you all for your prayers! Just got to keep doin' what I'm doin', takin' it easy and no weight bearing on the leg for 2 or 3 more months. Sounds ok but kinda hard on the finances...
Now....for the "STORY OF THE WEEK:"
Yesterday, on way home from the doc, my wife driving my truck, we stopped by the ranch where we have our horses pastured, and Eric (caretaker of ranch) came out to talk; as we sat in the truck. His German Shephard suddenly started barking and running up toward the chicken coop. Our gaze followed the dog's frenzied departure, and there was a red fox climbing the chicken wire fencing, and as we watched he dropped inside the enclosure and started chasing chickens! This at 5:30 pm in full daylight!
I told Eric I had a .22 rifle with me and "did he want me to shoot the fox?" He looked at me strangely and said, rather loudly, "Yeah!!"
So Karen drove the truck up about twenty yards from the chicken coop, and I grabbed my .22 from behind the seat. By this time the fox had jumped back out of the fenced area and was high-tailing it for the woods, due to all the commotion of the barking dog, etc.
I gingerly got out of the truck and rested the little rifle, then yipped to stop the fox. Like it was planned, he stopped, I shot, and he went down.
Sometimes it is just being in the right spot at the right time, and it really IS better to be lucky than good!
Oh...Eric asked me what kind of cake I like; he is having his wife reward me with a home made chocolate cake!

Burned gunpowder + dead critters = Rehab
WORKS for me!!
Keep up with the rehab, Gregg.

Hi Gregg!
I'm not much of a prayer guy but I do think of you and your boy and I have nothing but good thoughts headed your way! I really have enjoyed hunting with ya and am looking forward to our next one.

Not quite a hunting story. I came in from working on the sewer line at the Sportsman's Club last night about 6:00 PM. I came in from the creek side of the house. We have 5 horses, and the wife keeps a salt block in an old tractor tire about 20 feet out of the yard in the pasture. We had 8 deer at the salt block, about 50 feet from the house when I drove in. Coming in from the creek side, the house blocked my truck from the view of the deer until I was almost to the driveway.

Greetings Gregg, Okay here's the cure to get to feeling better: 1. Burn up some perfectly good gun powder and snort the fumes 2. Mix Hoppe's number 9 with some H110, 2400 and 4350 (short cut) and pour it on some whole grain cereal. 3. Watch this REALLY great DVD (from Hunters Eye Video) 4. Eat Elk meat
God Bless you and Get well soon!!

That's great! I love it!! Thank you for the good words!!
Sat out on the deck today (first really decent warm day we have had in a while)and shot a few cylinders of .22's into the dirt berm with my Single Six Ruger.
Had to keep my leg elevated and so had to be careful not to shoot it! ha ha lol!
I love that Hoppe's Nine, too bad my wife doesn't, I always have to "air out the house" when I clean my guns!!

Try Gunzilla....smells less (but you certainly lose the nostalgia) and cleans great, plus it lubes and provides a protectant. Slicker'n all get out! You can use it for a lube in reloading also. All 'round neato stuff.
