went to the range today started out practicing at 25 yards off hand with my contender .22 with bushnell 2-6 power scope.there was a gong set up at 100 yards so i asked the guy next to me if he minded me having a try at the gong.

his response was "you can't hit that from here and i will not have you getting in the way to get closer"

my answer to him ,I think i can do it from here.

his reply i would like to see that.

so from the bench i fire my contender bang...clang.

four hits in a row later he says to me you would never be able to do that without that scope.

so my answer to that was you are probably right lets find out.

i took out my single six with factory iron sights that i have never shot farther than 50 yards sat down with my back to the bench, rested the gun on my knees and aimed just a little high. bang ...clang,bang...clang,bang...clang,bang...clang.bang...clang,bang...clang.

to say it was a good moment would be an under statement.

Genesis chapter 1 verse 26

When shooting a single shot their are no warning shots.

Good job, always fun to screw with people at the range, especially the non believers.

A couple of friends and I use to eliminate muskrats at their duck club(muskrats would burrow through levy, flood corn field). The other two friends would use mini 14's and Iwould use my 10"contender in .22 hornet 4x simmons scope. When several targets presented themselves at 120-150 yards ,the big guns were all over the place, then when I went to shoot, their mocking of course, they had the same mindset that you couldn't hit anything past 25 yards, well,it seems the critters went to muskrat heaven, they stopped mocking me and wanted to shoot my contender. It made a real believer out of these two and the next day at work they were telling all the guys, because they just couldn't believe a pistol could shoot that far,it is just so much fun watching the disbelief on non-believers faces!

HaHa!! That's a great story! I usually get funny looks at the range from the guys with Glocks (not a dig on Glocks or their owners), drop holsters and other tactical gear, who are shooting patterns at five yards.

always good for the confidence level when your short gun out shoots a rifle or two.

I've been told, many times, that you can't kill a deer with a handgun. I've always responded with " Yeah, but the deer don't know that." It's alway classic to prove the non-believers wrong.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Did the same thing with a Walther PP back when I was stationed in Texas. One shot to get the elevation and after that it was bang clang.

I like to go down range and show them my sub MOA target shot with my 30-30 Contender and 4x scope. Most of the time most of the rifle shooters groups aint anywhere as good! Aint it funny when they start asking questions.
