I bought a Super Blackhawk and after 2.5 years recieved the licence. Welcome to Africa! Bowhunting is my first choice of hunting, but the cowboy in me always wanted to give the 44 a go.
Since I already reload for my 45 I thought to do the same for the 44. I will be using mostly 300grain bullets. I want to use Somchem S265 and load to the specs of Hornady 300gr XTP of 1150fps. Is there someone who havs some loads on that? Thanks

That is a powder I have never heard of in my 40 years of reloading.
On here surely someone is using it.

We don't have that powder here in the states unless it's marketed under a different name. Can you contact the manufacturer for loading data?

The manufacturer does have a BIT of data online:

http://www.dlswc.co.za/Reload/default.asp

There are aa few loads listed for the .44 Remington under Handgun Data.

A comparative burn rate chart shows that this powder is similar in burn rate to H-110/W296, and the loads shown on the web page above are very similar to the ones for a .44 using these two powders given the bullet weights shown. That's by no means a suggestion to use H-110/W296 loads with this particular powder, because, the similarities may end there.

I grew up in Namibia and started hunting when I was 9 years old. Started with a 303 with ironsights. Moved to a 30-06 when I was 12. I grew up in a military home and also served in the military and had the chance to shoot pretty much everything that can fire a bulllet. Did the big 5 before I was 30. Got tired of guns and started bowhunting after that. By law we are not permitted to do the big 5 with a bow anymore in South Africa. Only buffalo.
Hunting here in Africa is great! I think the 2 places in the world one should hunt before you die is Africa and Alaska. I hope to do Alaska one day. I think we should start an exchange program here. You come visit me for a hunt...I go visit you for a hunt. No expensive lodges, ph etc.
