Took out a friend to shot my T/C with a .223 14" bull barrel. FIred off 4 rounds then he loaded a Wolf .223 and it fired but the casing stuck in the barrel and I could not get it out in the field, no cleaning rod. Anyone else had an issue with the steel casing .223 ammo. Fired brass casing okay.
2) Switched to the 10" 30-30, which I had never shot, and got an awaking as the gun fired and the gun came flying back at my face. What a recoil. I don't know if is just shooting a 10" barrel or what but the kick is insane.
So there it is, just wondering other folks experiance.
Cheers

I have not shot the 30/30 in a 10 inch but in the 14 inch it is very gentle with handloads and factory remington ammo. As far as the 223 there are guys on here with much more experience then I. It seems like the 5.56 military stuff is in a steel case and that makes the walls thicker creating more pressure. I may be wrong but I know guys say not to shoot that stuff in the contender due to pressure.

Guns dont kill people, people kill people.

I just had this same experience a few weeks ago. Put new scope on the 223 encore and wanted to just get on paper with the cheap wolf ammo, after about 10 shots or so case stuck and was hard to get out...really had to pound that sucker. So no more Wolf for me!!

Polish your chamber, if you planning on shot'n the wolf ammo w/steel cases, and you shouldn't have anymore problems with extraction.

Oh...military 5.56 doesn't have steel cases, they're brass. It's just a little thicker than the civilian stuff.

Military stuff is loaded hotter from what I understand and a 10" 30-30 is pretty snappy. Nothing out of the ordinary in either case.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Genesis chapter 1 verse 26

When shooting a single shot their are no warning shots.

When you chop that 4" off the end it really makes a difference in muzzle flip. The recoil is not bad, just real snappy and if you aren't ready for it......

On your 30-30, you didn't say what grain bullet you were using. I switched to 110 and 125 grain bullets and found it very manageable. If you can find any chamber adapters that allow the use of 32 ACP or any of the variants of 32 H&R Mag, like 32 long, short or S&W you'll love that barrel.

I have 40 other rounds of some Ruaaian made .223 and was going to sell it to a friend if he wanted the stuff.
So what do I need to do to polish the barrel?
Thanks all for your comments.
Cheers

If you're not familiar with the process, I wouldn't recommend you not trying it. Take it to a good smith and he can fix it right up.
