It was raining slightly all day and unfortunately, being a school administrator, I was stuck in school. My buddy called around ten that morning and had taken a nice 12 pointer. That did it! I ran out to my stand after school and caught this guy chasing does before dark. Used factory Winchester ammo to take him from 100 yards.

Great Mark. That is an oustanding shot with that Encore. Which bullet and what about shot placement? How far did he go and did you have to trail? Hope not in that rain. What an oustanding buck.

I was using Winchester Ballistic Supreme 150 grain fodder. The buck was slightly quartering toward me as the bullet took him in the shoulder, penetrating through lungs. He ran maybe 50 yards. The deer field-dressed 158, with an outside spread of 18 1/2 inches.

Mark,

Great to see you posting here again. Nice buck.

I'll be hitting the north Florida woods with my 308 Encore pistol this weekend although I doubt I'll see any antlers like THAT!!!

Geeze...that's also one heckuva buck!! Your guys gotta be drapping them things out backwards to avoid getting the antlers caught on everything in the woods!

I've been hearing of some nice bucks coming from that area this year. Very cool.

Have ya been to the ranch lately? I still have not made the trip.

There were some nice bucks taken this year including one a friend of my got which scored 186. It also weighed 186 field dressed, which is a big deer in this neck of the woods. Haven't been to the ranch lately but hear they are doing a good job.
