It looks awesome Chris! Sounds like you've got a shooter too. I love the 30-30 AI. What bullet/load are you shooting in it? I'm using 150 grain Nosler BT's and IMR 4198 in mine.

At this point I am shooting 120 grain Nosler BT's with 36.5 grains of Varget. I had a pile of those bullets and wanted to shoot it. It digest the Factory 30/30 Remington Corelockt 150 bullets like crazy though. I was putting those in a 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch cluster at a hundred for five rounds. I am going to work up a load for the 150 grain Sierra sp or hornady spbt in 150. I have a 24 inch with a muzzle tamer and want to work up a good 150 grain load with those type of bullets for the upcoming elk season and use the handgun in deer season.

I hope to be able to take a few with her. I am getting ready to go through what looks to be a misserable divorce so I just hope I get to hunt and keep this thing at all.

She looks like a sweetheart and should do the job. Sorry to hear about the marital trouble. I've been there and it sucks and that's all there is to it. Good luck and God bless buddy.

Good lookin' weapon there. Makes me wish i was at home with mine. I have 2 frames, one for 45-70,444 and 375 JDJ and the other for 223, 222 an 22LR. Make sure you keep you're cool with the ex till she's legaly the ex. Been there done that. Yep, it sucks. Maybe it's for the better. I ended up with a younger, prettier, more politacly adjusted one. While she doesn't completly get it. She fully supports the hunting, shooting and fishing. Even comes along some times. Just hang in there.

Came up with a good accurate load for hunting. I am using Hornady SPBT 150 grain bullets infront of 37.5 grains of Varget. I am not sure of the velocity but I am sure of the accuracy. After a bit of playing I was able to come up with a combo that is producing 7/8 inch to 1 and 1/8 inch groups at 100 yards. I shot five rounds a couple of times and the last group was 1 and 1/8 but the 37.5 grains was starting to wack my hand pretty good. All the groups fired were five shot groups. I was succesful in drawing a first season cow elk tag this year along with a second season private land doe tag so I wanted to bump up to the 150 grain bullet to take care of some of my worries. I must say that the Hornady is producing some fantastic mushrooms at 100 yards when it hits the dirt. I dont like the way my Nosler Ballistic tips were reacting to the dirt behind the target. I know a lot of guys have great luck with the BT bullet and I have obtained my best accuracy with that bullet. Everyone I recovered from the dirt bank were blown apart and not more than a eighth of the original weight. I just want to make sure I am mushrooming good and not going to be worried about the bullet when I will alredy have plenty on my mind if givin the oppurtunity to aim at a elk with my great Contender.

Sorry to hear about the divorce. I've been there twice. I guess I'm too ornery to live with.:)
