Ok, now I am going to ask about another caliber choice. What first hand information can any of you provide on the 338/06 JDJ? I am interested in it for use on elk and large deer. I would also want to use it on plains game in South Africa.

I live in the TX/OK Panhandle area and shots tend to be on the long side. The paper ballistics suggest this might be a hard hitting long range hammer.

I've had a couple 338/06 JDJ barrels both 15" w/ Arrestor brakes. Velocities will run the same as a 24" barreled 338/06. Both of mine shot great. Just like all the other JDJ barrels I've owned.
